Tonight as your pillow grows softer, (Story at 17:37) your mind will grow numb as I join an old man in his basement to look at his secret candy isle. Put stranger danger aside for the real threat is the candy companies and some sort of war.
Sweet words like cocoafallout will fog your brain and sleep will come sooner than the conclusion…ideally.

I put my Writer’s Emergency Pack to use, drawing four random idea cards and then letting them guide the story, then when I was stuck I drew one more..and then one more after that. Writer’s Emergency Pack is a set of cards to help unstick a stuck story created by John August.
Writer Emergency Pack is a deck full of useful ideas to help get your story back on track.
When your story gets stuck, Writer Emergency Pack has the tools you need. Fix plot holes. Spice up stock characters. Rethink your themes.
Writer Emergency Pack gives you the questions that lead to great answers.
Each Pack Contains
- 26 illustrated Idea cards
- 26 Detail cards with helpful suggestions and specific tips to try
- Instructions for individual and class use, plus a bonus story game (“Cards Against Normality”)
Here’s the timecodes along with how the cards played into the story…
Below are the original four cards I drew to start the story
21:17 Card 11 “Puny Humans”
28:06 Card 26 “A House is not a Home”
44:31 Card 10 “Standard Procedures”
48:01 Card 19 “That Was Lucky”
At this point I was stuck on where to take the story…my main worry was how the hell to get to the candy war already….so I drew another card
53:55 Card 24 “That’s Not The Dragon
After this I was still stuck…keep going down? What does this have to do with a candy war???? I needed help so I drew another card…which was weird because I had already mentioned “Indy” and “Goonies” seeing we were below the earth…but the card did rescue the story…giving me the twist I needed to at least find a good point to break the tale into two.
59:07 Card 20 “What Would Indy Do”
