A Butterfly Who Loves Rick Moranis and Gatorade tells a Bedtime Story (and fails?) | Sleep With Me #164

Bernie the Butterfly is back, like an infection you thought had cleared up then forgot about then started to ruin your peace of mind yet again. He’s back and to help you fall asleep of all things. Bernie still hates Levar Burton and humans and most other things but he owes me one so he tries to be nice and sweet and carry you off to dreamland. If you somehow stay awake (trust me and don’t) you might hear his misguided sweet side as he gives media savvy type advice to a member of 5 Seconds of Summer.

Sleep With Me is a bedtime story designed to take your mind off of the racing thoughts that keep you awake at night.

As you listen you will find yourself distracted from your worries and drifting off into dreamland..due to the fact the story gets a little bit more boring with each passing minute.

This podcast is a little weird, a bit silly and a tad offensive so beware. It is very similar to ASMR or guided meditation bedtime story that slowly carries you off to slumber.

“Sleep With Me” is a groundbreaking podcast created to help you fall asleep. So get in bed, press play and drift off into dreamland.

If you struggle with insomnia or just getting a good night’s rest, you’ve found the podcast for you.

I’ve been listening to Sleep with Me, mostly in the middle of the night, for the past couple months when I wake up and can’t fall back to sleep. Sometimes it’s so kooky and tangential it’s hard to tune out. I get curious about where you’re going and why but eventually, sort of miraculously actually, you find your way back and I, fortunately, nod off. I heard about the podcasts from a weekly group of new moms that I facilitate who listen when they’re having trouble sleeping too. Your honesty and realness on the podcasts is refreshing. I appreciate your ability to just being who you are….which is a pretty self-effacing, kind (that comes through) guy who just tries to help people out. Keep up the good work. Thanks

Thanks for taking the time to say hello and offer such kind words of support. I’m glad you found the podcast! Be sure to say hi to whatever new mom (name starts with an A?) who recommended it.

It is funny you mention “miraculously…you find your way back” because a lot of times, especially on trending Tuesdays, it feels that way as I’m telling the story. In some sense the story only “comes” to me when I set aside my doubts about where the story is going and just let myself be immersed in the weirdness while I translate it back to you guys.

This episode was a good example, Bernie had plenty of “talking points” outlined including the whole 5 Seconds of Summer AMA, but I had no idea he would take a shine to the “young man on the left” and try and take him under his wing.

But in another sense all the stories are out there just like fragments of dreams, some parts you’ll hear and some you won’t and not all of it makes sense but I’m glad that you can find solace in them late at night and that they can help ease you back to sleep.

      Thanks so much for listening!
Be sure to check out this bonus…it is even odder than normal and is not edited http://traffic.libsyn.com/sleepwithmepodcast/SWMPBonus03.mp3

5 Seconds of Summer, I love this band, they’re quite talented musicians. She Looks So Perfect http://lyricsmusic.name/5-seconds-of-summer-lyrics/ is my favourite song by 5SOS
