Episode 1480 – Case of Too Many Giggles | Lady Marple Mystery
SCOOTER: Friends beyond the binary, ladies and gentlemen, boys and girls, it’s time for a friendly journey full of meanders and superfluous tangents. I got a mind full of meanders. If you don't mind, I got a mind full of meanders. I can't even remember what supercilious means, but this podcast is…hopefully it will be the super-silliest thing you've ever heard, but with…what was…? Pointless…superfluous tangents, superfluous…superflicity? Is that a thing? Superflicity? Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious is different, even though the sound of it it something…I never found it atrocious, especially when you were singing it, Bert, Mary, and especially my brain. But what was I saying? Supercilious, superfluous…super…yeah. Sometimes I can't even…oh, by the way, if you're new to the show, this is not the Mispronunciation Cast or Mispronunciation Notes, the podcast about mispronunciations and things interesting to mispronunciators or…I was trying to think of some pun I could think in there.
You know, we don't…this is not…yeah, this is actually Sleep With Me, the podcast that’s here to keep you company, take your mind off of stuff so you could fall asleep, maybe bring you some sleepy joy and delight in the deep, dark night. It’s a very different show, which I think we’ve established. So, if you're new, alls I could tell you is what people have been saying over the past thirteen years; give the show a few tries. See what happens. You got nothing to lose. As a matter of fact, I’m gonna give you other options if the show doesn't work for you coming up here. But I could give you the quick option….is sleepwithmepodcast.com/nothankyou, and I’ll explain more later on so you don't even have to wait. But give it a few tries. If you're like me and any other people listening, the deep, dark night has never been a place with…I mean, other than a few positive exceptions full of super silliness and definitely my vocabulary…I don't know…I'm afraid to even look up that word, though I’ve looked it up before on intros.
So, yeah. I think maybe it even means that I’m easily disregarded? Is that…? I don't know. But what I do know is I’m not kidding, I’m not trying to be cloying when I say I’m glad you're here and I hope I can help because I’ve been there. What we got coming up is support so that paying for the show is optional, then a long, meandering intro meant to ease you into bedtime, and then a bedtime story later on. All told, we’ll be here over an hour. Even the structure is a bit different than what you may expect, but we’ll explain everything as we go along. So, I’m really, really happy to try to help you out here. If you're new, welcome. If you're coming back and you come here when you're having a tough time, when life throws you a…some super…something that’s not super-silly, or you have so much sillies that you got an adrenaline rush…a case of too many giggles, you know? I guess maybe that could be what tonight’s episode’s about, a case of too many giggles. Miss Marple and the Case of Too Many Giggles. I guess we got it. So, it’ll be a Trending Tuesday episode. But I’m really glad you're here. If you're here night after night, year after year, if you could either consider supporting one of these sponsors or supporting the show directly or spreading the word about the podcast, it’d be huge. Thanks.
Intro: Hey, are you up all night tossing, turning, mind racing? Trouble getting to sleep? Trouble staying asleep? Well, welcome. This is Sleep With Me, the podcast that puts you to sleep. We do it with a bedtime story. Alls you need to do is get in bed, turn out the lights, and press Play. I’m gonna do the rest. What I’m going to attempt to do is create a safe place where you could set aside whatever’s keeping you awake. That could be thoughts on your mind about the past, the present, the future, thoughts that are coming up…I have a lot of thoughts coming up right now. I’m trying to do the intro, and I saw The Mandalorian and Grogu yesterday. ‘Cause when…I record these episodes pretty far out. All of a sudden now, I’m not even kidding, in my brain, just like…I mean, almost like I’m living in a…some sort of panel, like a comic panel, Grogu keeps…or Baby Oso, as we like to call Grogu around here, Baby Oso is zooming by in my brain. Very cute, very cute, but not the best time for it.
Also, I had a really good joke yesterday. You know what’s…you know what is always super sleepy and meandering when you try to explain what a joke is two days later out of context with no context whatsoever? So, I’ll just share it with you now to help you, 'cause it doesn't make…it’s not actually funny anymore, but…'cause you had to be there, right? Don't you hate it when people explain to you…? You had to be there, but I’m gonna tell you about it anyway. That’s actually a joke that’s humorous right now because it’s so true. I mean, you had to be there, so let me tell you about it. Okay, but I wasn't there, so I don't think…oh no, yeah, you had to be there. Anyway, here's what it was like. Okay, but I wasn't there, so isn't this…is this performative? Oh, it was then. If you were there, you would have known…you would know. So, hold on. Okay, let me set it up. Well, no, but I had to be there. So, this one, you don't…had to be there, 'cause I’m gonna tell you what it was.
This…well, it’s not actually a joke; it’s something I was curious about that…so, I guess it wasn't a joke. I was curious about it, but other people found it humorous. ‘Cause I said, okay, wait a second, this Baby Oso, right, goes off with Luke. Now, today I discovered there was things I didn't know, 'cause I didn't watch one of the shows, like another show in the universe that Baby Oso was in that explains what actually happened. So, just in case you know a lot of the stuff, this joke won't even land for you at all. But I said to myself, self…but I was saying this in public in front of other people. I said, well, when Baby Oso went off with Luke, what exactly did they cover? Just snacking? That was as far as they got in the training, was the importance of snacks to Jedis and your midi-chlorians or whatever. Say, you need proper snacking. See what I mean? It doesn't make any…but if you know any…if you're a Mandalorian fan…well, yeah, if you're a Mandalorian fan, you're probably not with me.
If you're a Sleep With Me listener, you may understand. You had to be there, I guess. Oh, boy. So, thoughts, it could be thoughts…I mean, those are thoughts. Talk about the thought within a thought. I mean, can you believe I have trouble sleeping? I mean, really. Healer, heal thyself. That’s what I’m here to do, right? Okay, so, thoughts, it could be feelings…I mean, related to those thoughts for me. ‘Cause by the way, when…all the stuff, it doesn't go over, it sounds…the hardest thing is that when I say it on the podcast it sounds ten times better than it’s like in reality, 'cause that’s…it’s like the Hollywood glam…I mean, whatever. Podcasting doesn't quite have…but it is like…when it’s filtered through…you say, well, I kinda feel bad for Scoots, but that must have been nice. I say, eh, well, my thoughts and feelings about it weren't so great afterwards. I mean, that one I did because it was just like, people were…they weren't laughing at me. They were laughing 'cause my curiosity is so incongruous.
But I said, what…did Luke really sit him down and say, okay, here's…? We're gonna build on the skills you already have, Baby Oso. Is this a sleep podcast or are you doing five minutes of terrible Star Wars comedy? Said, Luke, by the way, excuse me, I’m in the middle of something here. He said, okay, we're gonna build on the skills you already have. I noticed you have a great…you have a wide palate and you do like to snack, or you like to have a bunch of micro-meals. So, we're gonna build on that. We're gonna lean into that. That is how…that happened a long time ago in a galaxy far, far away. So, best to keep it there, huh? Man, honestly, I was like, this opening is not gonna have anything partially funny in it 'cause I was not feel…I was not…I was feeling neutral. So, man. What do we…what was this name of this episode? A Case of the…Too Many…A Case of Too Many Giggles. Well, this isn't…this is more of a, whatever, half of a giggle.
Okay, so, thoughts, feelings, physical sensations, anything coming up physically for you related to those thoughts or feelings, it could be changes in time, temperature, routine, you could be going through something, in the middle of something, getting over something. Whatever it is, maybe you work a different schedule. I don't know. I like to go through some of this stuff so you get a sense you're in good company. Everyone here, myself, everybody that works on the show, everybody that listens to the show, everybody related to the show, they really want to welcome you here and hope you get some comfort and relief from whatever it is that’s been going on with you and sleep, whatever it is that brought you here, that you get some comfort, some rest, the rest you need and you deserve on a regular basis, that you don't have to dread bedtime anymore, that at least you could feel neutral about or be like, I have no idea what nonsense this podcaster’s gonna come up with tonight, but I do prefer…I do prefer his nonsensical thoughts to mine.
Somehow he’s not…it’s not that he’s glamorizing these…the brain that continues to come up with “interesting things”, quote unquote. The Supercilious Brain; that could be one of my many non-published, non-created autobiographies. Maybe somebody remember that, The Supercilious Brain. My brain doesn't like that. It’s just like, I’m shutting everything down now. You'll never get through this intro. Okay, so, thoughts, feelings, physical sensations…you're in the right spot, I hope, and even if you're not, I can try to guide you somewhere that’ll help you, 'cause everybody that’s listening right now has been either where you are or someplace similar, and we share something, a desire to not…I don't know.
One thing is that maybe you're hurting like we’ve all hurt before, but it’s also like the desire for relief and the desire for someone else to be there, or now, if you become a part of this thing, even indirectly just by listening, you're a part of something bigger, of a group of people around the world that have this shared understanding of something unpleasant and this chance to pause and send comfort to one another and receive it from people around the world. Yeah, it’s an indirect way, but it’s real, and that welcoming spirit of the show, it’s not me; it’s everybody out there saying, yeah, that sounds really tough. We're glad you're here. We hope this can help. That’s the only silly…I mean, that’s the only serious part of the show. I said silly, but I try to keep things lighthearted. But you're important, and you getting the rest you need is important so that your life is better tomorrow and more manageable, and then in the ultimate quest of the podcast, really, what I strive for is that you could be out there in the world flourishing.
That’s so important to me, and makes me almost tear up thinking about you being in the world flourishing or on the road to flourishing, 'cause that means our world, the more manageable and the more rested you are and the more you can be you is a better place to be in, and that’s the truth. I’m not the only one that wants that. There’s other people listening right now that want that, too. So, that’s what I mean when I say I’m glad you're here. I really am. So, what else do you need to know? The way the show works is I send my voice across the deep, dark night. I use lulling, soothing, creaky, dulcet tones, pointless meanders, and superfluous tangents. So, I go off topic, I get mixed up, then I forget what I was talking about. Well, we’ve seen…I mean, we’ve seen it all tonight already. So, that…and my…yeah, creaky, dulcet tones means my voice is just not traditionally soothing. It’s just a mild distraction. This is a podcast that does take some getting used to.
That’s why we have sleepwithmepodcast.com/nothankyou set up, so that if you're skeptical or doubtful, you say, well, I have nothing to lose. I can give the show a few tries, and that’s what most people’s experience was; oh, on the first try this was…I was really skeptical, doubtful, I thought this was a sleep podcast. It’s not what I expected. Then on the second try I was like, well, I like how he calls…Grogu’s cute and Baby Oso’s cute. I think at this point in Grogu’s development Grogu would probably tell me, I’m not a baby. I’d say, well, don't you have that jet-powered pram? I’d say, I’m not here to quibble with you, 'cause you do have the power…much more powerful than me. I was just…I just was assuming we shared a sense of humor. Sorry, Grogu, sorry, Grogu. It will happen again. Can you smite people with the Force? You don't want to, though. You don't want to be getting in the…you know? What would Obi-Wan say? He’d say, Scooter’s already been smoten on some level.
Those who smote themselves should not be smoted by Jedi. I’d say that’s…I think that was…that probably…I don't know which wise one said that, but maybe you said that, Baby Oso…Grogu. Enough pandering. So, give this show a few tries. See how it goes. ‘Cause then most people are like…a second try…oh, I liked that part, or oh, he is always going nowhere. The show is always never getting started. Yeah, it does make sense; yeah, sure Grogu’s…but yeah, you can't expect not to be accidentally called Baby Oso if you're…nothing against floating prams. They do seem unbelievably cool. But yeah, I mean…so yeah, I guess we could all agree that no…Jedis don't…never smote, right? Even Jedis in training, or maybe you're not a Jedi…Mandalorians. Oh yeah, that’s right. Sorry. So say we…no, that’s from another show. So say we…that’s…this is the way. Okay, enough…save it for May the Fourth, Scoots.
Okay, so, most people don't like the show…oh, so, if you definitely don't like the show already, I mean, at least you know, right? ‘Cause this is what it’s like all the time. Or you tried it a few times…sleepwithmepodcast.com/nothankyou has other sleep podcasts and sleepy stuff on there, 'cause you don't have to like me to deserve a good night's sleep, to deserve to be flourishing, for me to want that for you. ‘Cause even if you don't like me, I’ve still been there and I still want to help you out. So, give…go to that website, see what works for you. But otherwise let’s see how this goes. This is a podcast you don't exactly listen to. It’s like a TV on in the other room or a show streaming under your pillow, sand passing through your hands, a out-of-focus picture, maybe what it would feel like to be in a floating pram moving at a reasonable pace, like a friend talking to you across the room that you're not really paying attention to or telling you about…like one of those stories; you had to be there.
First we were making oatmeal. You say, okay, can I close my eyes while you tell me this? Oh, yeah. Well, you had to be there, so you're gonna want to imagine it. So, it took three cups of water, right? We divided them. That’s one-and-a-half cup of water each. Isn't it one-and-a-half cups…? One-and-a-half cups of water each. Then…so, we’ve had that experience, right? Clouds in the sky, wind in the trees, a seminar, maybe even a movie or a presentation or something you can't quite stay awake for, and nice water passing through your toes. Whatever it is. This show is like something that comes in and out of the background when you need it. You can listen but you don't need to listen. This is a sleep podcast that’s not meant to put you to sleep. There is no pressure to fall asleep with this show. There’s a reason the episodes are over an hour; so you don't have to worry about falling asleep.
I’m gonna be here whether you're awake or asleep, 'cause there’s people listening who can't sleep at all or who need a break during the day, who need something to listen to while they're at work or they wake up in the middle of the night. I’m here so there’s no pressure to fall asleep. I’m gonna be here the whole time with you. That does take some getting used to, a show you can listen to but you don't need to, you could listen to it, you could wake up and listen to it. ‘Cause my job is not to put you to sleep but to be your bore-friend, your bore-bae, your bore-so. Can somebody remember that, too? Your…I'll be the baby…there you go. That’s always a way to…a little bit of deprecation will keep a Jedi from smoting me, or a Mandalorian child. I’ll be Baby Boreso if…I mean, I may not remember it. So, I don't know if you have that. Maybe you could work on my memory a bit, too. But yeah, Baby Boreso. Oh, so boring, you know? Oh, so meandering.
Especially if we don't see the Mandalorian…Grogu again. Your bore-sib, your bore-bud, your Boris Borelaf, your chairman of the boreds, your Big Borebowski. Once again we’ll say your Baby Boreso, your boreman, your neighbore — maybe I even said that — your bore-bae, your best bore-friend f’eva. I’m here…your bore-friend just hangs out with you so you could fall asleep. Then the structure of the show is the last thing I like to run through. So, the show starts off with a greeting so everybody feels welcome; friends beyond the binary, ladies and gentlemen, boys and girls, so you say, okay, I could check that show out. Then sometimes I naturally talk about something silly. You say, okay, I get the tone of it, too. Then there’s support from sponsors or requests for listener support so that nobody has to pay for the show and anybody can discover it when they need it. That’s a optional portion, because there’s a lot of people that just discover the show, and most people listen to it just when they need it, and then there’s our regular listeners.
But there’s new people, people that aren't in a position to support the show or that are just…that’s not a option for them. So, those allow us to be there for everybody. There’s also a version of the show without intros called Bedtime Stories from Sleep With Me if you fall asleep fast or you just don't like these intros. But yeah, there is a intro in every show, which we're…this one’s probably twenty-five minutes. I’m only guessing. Oh no, we're under twenty-three minutes with the beginnings. But so…but the intros are somewhere between fifteen and twenty-five to thirty to twenty-seven to fourteen minutes long or so. The reason the intro’s…every show has a new intro unless it’s a repeat or a all-intro episode. The intros follow a familiar structure every time, but you never know what’s gonna happen. Tonight’s a pretty good example of that in a good way. The intro has familiarity and variety. That’s just one of the important things I try to replicate with the show that actually help me.
Repetition did not help me. If I listened to something that somebody told me about and it was the same every time, some part of my brain that keeps me awake would keep me awake. But having something consistent helped, and for me it was comedy radio, just knowing…but there was times there was repeats on this, or the shows got a little repetitive, and I would…so, that’s why the intros are always new but always different. It’s important to me, and it’s the time where we all hang out and wind down. If you fall asleep fast, consider supporting the show or just…I don't know. But most people are getting ready for bed, winding down, maybe even winding down in a different room, doing some chill activity, looking out the window, laying on the floor, petting your pets, just…it’s like this is a sleepover and we're now at the post-crest…not the Razor Crest, though the Razor Crest probably has some bunks.
I consider myself banned from the Razor Crest after this episode from Baby…I'm Baby Boreso, though. We could be like a team, or I could be your snack-holder. Be like, snack packs? I got them. I got…what do you need? A snack pack…blue-milk pudding? You got it. Blue…original blue-milk pudding or new blue-milk pudding? You got it. You want me to hold the container while you eat out of it? Don't…you know what Mando says; don't eat the containers. Though these ones I did buy are edible containers. So, just in case. This is what I call a win-win, Grogu. So, yeah, that’s a win-win…I mean, I guess it’s not a win-win situation for me, 'cause I don't know if I’m quite cut out for…well, I mean, in my imagination…well, I’m not cut out to be anybody’s assistant. Let’s be honest. But carrying…I mean, I could be under…I could be in…whatever you call it, under the covers. You say, well, he’s not really here to carry Grogu’s snacks, is he? Mando’s like, no, he is. That’s the only thing he’s qualified for.
No, but I’m…Mando, right, yeah, right, Mando. You stick to the story. There’s no story. He’s only qualified to carry snacks. By the way, barely…I looked on the ingredients. Those are not…oh yeah, no, these are totally…you see, I’ve already got lost in my position. It’s like, he’s an intern snack-carrier. He’s not actually a professional snack-carrier. That’s what we have the pram for. We got a new pram with the under…refrigerator on the bottom. This guy, he’s just…he just said he’d do it for free. So, okay. Well, at least I still got this sleep podcast that I’m trying to close out. What was I saying? The intro goes on and on and on…oh, to ease you into bedtime. Then…and if you don't like the intros, try Bedtime Stories from Sleep With Me.
But this is the time we spend together, and winding down and having a buffer seems to work for me most of the time, and that’s what it seems like works from what I read a lot about sleep. So, hopefully this will ease you into bedtime. Then after this we’ll have a Trending Tuesday-style story, like a potpourri random story, about a case of too many giggles, I guess. All told, we’ll be here a bit over an hour. I’m really glad you're here. Whether you're new, you're coming back, or you're a super listener, I really hope I can help. If you are a super listener, please consider spreading the word about the show, supporting one of these sponsors or supporting the show directly so we can be here for everybody, including you. Thanks.
Alright everybody, this is Scoots here, and this is another Trending Tuesday-style episode where it doesn't always come out on Tuesdays and it’s more based on random meanders to, yeah, I don't know, bring you off into dreamland. This is a Miss Marple, who is…I forgot her first name. Is it Maple Marple or Maeve Marple? Miriam Marple, M. Marple…Marbles Marple. Maybe it’s…maybe…that’s probably her cat’s name if she has a cat, or whatever her pet’s name is. Oh, meet Marbles, Marbles Marple. She’s not of the same Marples you're thinking of, but in the same vein, 'cause she’s just Miss Marple. I don't know a lot about her history right at this moment. In the past I may have known more. But she’s looking into stuff, and particularly now she’s looking into good things. Particularly that’s what she’s been focused on, is good things. She follows a path to find more and more good things. This is the case of too many giggles.
When she was first presented with it, she said how could there be a case of too many giggles? In my search of the world…she’s like, I just don't understand because I’ve been…currently in my life right now I like to help people find lost things or look into things that people find baffling. But she’s like, it wasn't that long ago that I said to Marbles Marple, my cat; Marbles, Marbles Marple, could you come over here? I want to talk to you for a minute. I’ve been thinking, Marbles…Marbles settled in for a long…it wasn't winter, but as if it was gonna be a long winter’s chat. Marbles was good at passive listening, which just meant that on some level Marbles was listening, but mostly it was passively, and that Marbles’ wonderful fur was absorbing…it was…if Marbles could talk, other than say…I mean, Marbles could talk. He’d say, meow. But Marbles could talk in English at a level we could hear. Marbles would say, my fur does the listening, as well as my tail and my ears, and so much more.
But Marbles Marple; my fur does the listening. Marple’s Marble Esq. I added the esquire 'cause I thought if I had a business card…and then I’d say, my fur does the listening. But Miss Marple said to Marbles, Marbles, I’ve been thinking about…I try not to think too far in the future or too much in the past, but as life meanders on as it always does, I tend to go there. But I’ve been thinking today right now in this moment that I want to be on the lookout…I want to be awed, just like your yarn wants to be pawed by you, Marbles. I want to go out in the world, and…how could there be too many giggles in the world? Is it a case…? Instead…there’s supposed to be twenty-four giggles in there and there’s twenty-five? Alls I was told on telegram was Miss Marple, we’ve got a case for you, a case of too many giggles. Please proceed henceforth with to look into it. It involves some royal stuff, too. Not your…not royalty in your world.
But Miss Marple paused before she took up the case 'cause she said, well, if there’s…if someone’s saying there’s too many giggles, where does…? She said, well, maybe I need to look into it then. I thought giggles were additive. If we're getting into the subtractive game of de-giggling, maybe I need to learn more. But she was also explaining to Marbles earlier before I went on a tangent; Marbles, I want to be…I'm looking to be awed by the world, to let the world awe me, to let the world surprise me, to teach me, too. It’s not all awes. Sometimes it’s aw, shucks, Marbles, or aw, darn. Those are times, too, that I could pause and be in the moment with my feelings of awe or awe or awe, or aw. But Marbles, I want to be out there in the world looking for those things, paying attention to them and pausing for them. So, I guess I will take this case, 'cause what does it mean to have too many giggles? My interest has piqued, so maybe I will be awed.
So, she headed off, and she went a long, long way on a far, far trip. She brought Marbles along, of course. Of course, you know, in other tales we haven't…Marbles, I don't think, has been a part of it, but she had all the accoutrements you would expect to have if your cat is your traveling companion, including, most impressively, some sort of portable air purifier. I mean, Marbles gets purified air, but in case she was sitting next to someone on a train or a plane like myself…that was in…and I actually made a soothing sound for Marbles. That may have been where her ability to live this lifestyle came from, that she invented the first…at first she called it the Cattifier, and then people said, does it turn things into cats? No. Does it…? Well, no, it’s just…it’s a air purifier that’s comforting to cats. Also it…it also keeps…by the way, it’s not just a filter and a fan. I’ve designed it to have a humidifier or de-humidifying depending on…it has a hydrometer or something. She was saying it correctly.
I’m just catching you up. They said, yeah, let’s not call it a Cattifier. She goes, well, a cat purifier is wrong. Anything too descriptive may…but anyway, she invented it. This is…well, this is actually speculation. I’m only guessing. You would put it with…if she had a cat carrier, he’d be in there, even though the cat carrier itself isn't sending out a lot of cat dander. It wasn't 100% effective, but very conscientious and very portable. But as a matter of fact, what happened was…what people discovered is…they said, well, this is an excellent device not just for cats. It’s portable, great battery, great use…very efficient as far as it runs…it can run quite a long time on a charge, 'cause she designed it for a full day of travel, and that just doesn't mean eight hours. She means…about sixteen hours it would last running, but it could also monitor…you know what I’m saying? It was very efficient. It could run up to thirty-six hours, I’m told. But people, they discovered it.
I don't know if…this might have been before TikTok. But people said, this Cattifier…well, first of all, that was what happened, is someone made a viral thing of like…they said, I’m cattified. But they said, this is a air purifier designed and marketed for cat owners, for cats, conscientious cat travellers, or maybe even people that say, well, I’d like to have a better relationship with cats, but I’m allergic to cats. So, I’ll bring…you could gift it to the cat person that’s like myself; they say, here's a gift. I could tell you, if I got it, I would probably not be filled with gratitude until I got home and googled it and found out this device is amazing. Bring it to your hotel. It works in a hotel for a human. Does it have a HEPA filter? I don't know. I don't know the exact specs of this thing. I just know it’s very well made and it became very popular. If we assume everything I’m telling you is accurate up until this point, maybe this is where her second or third fortune came from. If she was…I mean, maybe not.
Maybe she just runs on her own…it does seem like she gets to take up these cases at her leisure, which is nice. But so, she was travelling with Marbles, with her Cattifier. Probably…she’s probably working on…now that she’s probably sold everything…but they still…she probably is still on the board or a consultant. So, she’s still working. Like, the Lays prototype is even more amazing. So, she’s travelling with Marbles, the Cattifier, and the accoutrements of…that you travel with with a cat. She does not leash Marbles, but Marbles does have a pram. Again, maybe this was her business? I don't know. She did have convertible things which you've seen…I mean, you're familiar with these things. They have them for babies; they probably even have them for cats. I mean, hers, ultra durable. Buy it once, but also ultra portable, because if you're a single Marple traveling with your cat…'cause…so, she had it with luggage. She figured out the forty-four most popular luggage things.
Okay, well, I could put this…this would go right on top of your carry-on bag, even though I check my carry-on bag, my rolling…my roller that fits four days worth of clothing, sensible shoes and the etcs. So anyway, her and Marple…her and Marble went on a long, long trip. Then she checked into a hotel or AirBn…wherever she was staying, and she did leave Marble…Marple…Marbles, Marble Marple…Marbles…is it…Marbles, right? Not Marble. Marble…huh. Never thought about that. I mean, that’d be cool if you had two cats. Meet Marbles and Marble. Marble and Marbles. You say, your cats are named Marble and Marbles? Yeah, I just noticed a trend, that people do have the freedom to call their cat Marble. Or, Marbles is more…slightly more popular? I don't know. This cat, I named it Marble because its fur looks like…somewhat like marble, reminds me of marble. Marbles is a…one of the great northern spotted cats from the highlands, and it looks like it’s covered in marbles.
That’s not…that was only in my imagination, though. She does not…Marbles is her cat. Marble Marple. Did I say Marbles? Marbles Marple, or Marble Marples. Either one. Whatever you like. I’ll be saying both. But Marbles stayed at the hotel. She travelled out a long, long way. Oh, they had already travelled a long, long way. She travelled out to the place where there were too many giggles. Oh, boy. Now, this was at the center of town, the center of the village, and it was a sight of a great celebration and a great fair. She realized she had a lot of people to talk to, because that’s what she did. But the people were spread out on two sides 'cause they were each rooting for one person, right? ‘Cause this was the sign of a great competition. So, she said, okay, interesting. So, it was a competition? Oh, they said it’s been delayed. We're glad you're here, Miss Marple. She said, you…and they said, oh, yeah, no.
She goes, yeah, I’m real. I’m not…well, I’m fictional but I’m not the fictional Miss…I'm not the fictional Marple you were hoping for, am I? They said, alas, no, but you'll…I guess you'll have to do. She said, well, I’ll do my best to do what I do before I bid you adieu. They said, okay, well, that’s good. That’s a good sign. So, they said, yeah, we have two sides gathered. We were waiting. Yeah, we're gonna have this big contest. She said, well, what was the competition and what happened? They said, well, we're glad you asked, because, yeah, it’s been delayed by the giggles. We have too many giggles. But this particular thing is necessary to have a audience. So, we can't do it without the audience. She said, okay. She’s like, so what is this competition? They said, well, it’s…you might not understand it. They said, we don't have time to explain to you the…so you fully understand it, so we’ll just give you a summary. But we're a large group of people. We gather together.
We share in a desire to be more fully in this world, but also through stories and…and we make up our own kinda things to make the world make sense, and some of it’s a little bit nonsensical. So, you'll have to bear with us. She said, okay, tell me more. They said, okay, well…so, this is a…huh, how do we say this? We call this the Great Gargamel Games. She said, like Gargamel from the Smurfs? They said, kinda, yeah, it is Gargamel from the Smurfs. She said, are you honoring Gargamel? They said, no, no, no. So, this is very…you gotta get in the zone. We try to…and Miss Marple said, you don't have to explain that part to me. I’m looking to live a life full of awe and acceptance of all forms of awe, not just the A-W-E kind, but this…I'm already in awe and I’m very curious, and that’s the key for me living in awe, is to stay curious. This particular person said, well, that sounds a lot like the Marple we were looking for. Okay, but to get back to this Great Gargamel Games…no.
Originally the concept was what if there was a world similar to the Smurfs world…? So, we do have people that are dressed as Smurfs. But there was a different path that the Smurfs took, and Gargamel somehow was more in charge of things. Miss Marple said, well, that doesn't sound very good. She goes, what about Azrael? I have a cat named Marbles, by the way. They said, yeah, well, we always kinda assume Gargamel and Azrael…that’s Gargamel’s cat…oh, could you explain…just so I understand, can you explain to me who the Smurfs and Gargamel are? Okay, well, in our world Smurfs are a secret woodland creature. They're blue. They live in mushrooms. They're fully conscious, sentient, very much like a human mammal, and they live in…they just want to live their life. Those are the important parts. We're not too deep into Smurfs. This is more of our own thing. We actually don't call anything Smurfs. I’m just referring to it just so you understand. It’s more of a thing.
Miss Marple said, okay, I think I understand. So, in this world, though, the Smurfs did not have total freedom. Gargamel took over and was running things, right? We keep a pretty close eye on the Smurfs. Miss Marple said, okay, that doesn't sound very pleasant. The person said, yeah, no, it’s not. But when…every year, to maintain Gargamel’s…'cause Gargamel is a magic user, right, a cauldron caster, as a matter of fact. Every year, as…to stay in the union of cauldron casters and to refresh skills…it’s something that wasn't really portrayed too much on the show. You do have to refresh your skills on a daily basis but also on a yearly basis. In this…that you had to check in. You can't just…for use of magic…it’s actually a alternate timeline, right? Gargamel may have thought, oh, I’m gonna be a independent cauldron caster. They were like, no, no, you're not. Trust us; it’d be way more effective if you get into this union, you stay a part of the community, you give back.
Gargamel said, well, as long as I can run the Smurfs. They said, fine, but you gotta come…one week a year as long…two other weekends you gotta come back for a full training and retreat and stuff, and bring Azrael, by the way. Gargamel learned there’s only so much the Smurfs can do in a week, and they have a pretty…allowed them to keep their community and their towns. So, that…so, this is like a timeline of two or three generations from the Smurfs you may be familiar with, even though it’s not at all, and it’s only imaginary for us to get into the zone. So, that is to say that in this world, humans and Smurfs are the same size. Gargamel is gone for a week. That’s why it’s…I guess that was my answer; Gargamel’s gone for a week. So, when Gargamel goes out of town now, it became a moment in the Smurfs. They’d have the Great Gargamel Games because Gargamel was gone. Gargamel’s gone; time for the Great Gargamel Games.
Two or three generations later, the Great Gargamel Games became a yearly thing. This was just something we thought up at a pub one time, by the way, Miss Marple, when we were bored and laughing. We said, huh, this…similar…a different language but similar to what you're saying. Our world and our community is lacking a little bit of awe, and while we do have certain festivals and moments, we're missing something. So, this is what we came up with. Again, in this world there are humans, and then there’s people that are…I guess you'd call it cosplaying as Smurfs. But it became…it’s not really about the Smurfs anymore. I guess that was only so I could explain it. Okay, so let me repeat back to you what you're saying. Every year you have the Great Gargamel Games to celebrate this joy and freedom that you get once a year, and you all identify with the spirit of sentient woodland creatures who are feeling a little bit too put upon by some outside force, and for this one week, that outside force is gone.
So, you feel freedom. Is this like getting into Dionysus…? No, not quite like that, no, no. It is just supposed to be fun for everybody. So, nowadays some people will…you can dress up like Smurfs, who we assume…some people dress up like people from the Blue Man Group, Aladdin, other blue demigods and gods and goddesses, deities, and some people just dress up in whatever they feel like. You don't have to be blue to be here, to be you, we always say. Okay, but this particular contest…so, this particular event, this is the big event for the Great Gargamel Games, and it is…now, it is very hard to understand, but it’s very…oh boy, this is the pinnacle event. Strangely enough, it’s a pinnacle event where you could see these…the two people that are practicing, they have these long…those are wood. They're painted red in this…it’s a twenty-five-foot piece of wood. Huh, it looks like ten feet to me. Sorry; twenty…ten feet. Yes, Miss Marple. Thank you.
But, well, we have ten…we have different lengths. You're right; the ones they're using right now are twenty-five feet…the…ten feet. The record is twenty-five feet. Now, you could see that if you were looking at the piece of wood, it’s not a cylinder or whatever you call it. It’s a triangle, a 3D triangle that slowly tapers to a point or a tip, as you'd say. Now, you also see…and again, this is what throws people off if they're not a part of our community. We have these giant, beautifully-colored ceramic fish sculptures that are actual life-size sculptures of fish, of large fish, fish of our area. You'd say, well, what would they look like? You would call it a salmon or a trout or something. So, they're fairly large. They're ceramic, so…but they're painted and designed to be…well, they're almost lifelike, Miss Marple said. Yes, Miss Marple. They're beautiful. Well, some are…we do in other…and that’s a part of the build up, and the final part is of the start of the Great Gargamel Games, which we call Triple G Week.
We don't even call it that anymore 'cause it’s so confusing. They say, what is that, like Smurf Con? No, and then I have to explain, and it takes quite some time for me to explain that it’s not Smurf Con, though I think if Smurf Con’s not a thing, it should be Payo Con, and if both of those aren't a thing, that Scooter should be credited for it. Well, yeah, if he could move back in time, he may have it. Okay, so, basically the contest is each person…we start with even shorter than ten feet; we start with three feet. We set a timer. Each person gets a fish and they have to balance the fish on the tip and then hold it. Unfortunately, yeah, if the…now, here's another thing I’ll tell you about this Triple G Fest. So…oh no, you didn't come into town that way, but…so, if you don't…if you can't keep it balanced, the fish falls and breaks on the ground 'cause it is made of ceramic.
Now, what happens is — now, this is the good news — whoever designed the fish wins a huge prize if their fish is broken, and we collect all of the broken pieces and use it to do these murals on the…on all the buildings in town, which I guess you haven't been to town yet. Miss Marple said, no, I have not. So, they…the two competitors are supposed to balance ceramic…can I just say ceramic salmon? ‘Cause I like the sound of that, kinda like Great Gargamel Games. So, they balance a ceramic salmon, beautiful ceramic salmon on a staff. Can I say…is it okay if I say that? You can, Miss Marple. That’s fine. And they're supposed to keep it in balance. If one drops, it doesn't…otherwise…okay, otherwise…first they get one minute of silence, right? Then we have horn-blowers on each side, because each side is cheering and they are doing a little J-E-E-R-I-N-G, all in good jest for…'cause each person is some sort of symbolic fictional character so that people can really feel invested in that symbolic character.
So, let’s just say it is like Sleepy versus the Robin Williams Aladdin. So, some people would say, oh, I like Robin…the Robin Williams version of Aladdin. Then other people might say, oh yeah, no, I prefer this. I prefer the Sleepy Smurf or Jokey Smurf or whoever. So, you have the horns going. [inaudible] everything, noisemakers yelling. Okay, that’s at three minutes. So, the first minute, silence. A minute, whatever, one minute one second to three minutes and fifty-nine…no, no. Yeah, three minutes…no, five minutes. So, two minutes and fifty-nine seconds; noise. Now, you also see this backdrop. Oh yeah, I was noticing that backdrop is…I was gonna ask you about it, but we’ve been so consumed with everything else. Yeah, so, up there it looks like clouds, right, even though it’s not real. Yeah, your horizon…so, are those areas…? So, we have the kinda parade ground square here, and then it’s almost like bleachers. It’s almost like bleachers; you're right, Miss Marple, but it’s not as many seats.
Then, yeah, we have layers of clouds, which those…that’s like plywood that we’ve shaped like cartoon clouds and then covered in puffy stuff and painted and all that. A piece of craftwork. But behind all the clouds are the children of the area. Not just the town. If you live…you could come here and visit. We're glad to have you here for Triple G Week as well, Miss Marple. They said, so at that point…so, at two minutes and fifty-nine seconds, so three minutes, right? Each round is five minutes. Then the children, they start popping up behind the clouds, and they're dressed in finery. Like, they're also dressed like their favorite…anything from mythology. It does have to be something technically with the post-earthly existence or ethereal existence, or it could be someone that has changed realms. Or, usually the children do tend to stick to mythological figures or whatever. It does have to be grounded…it’s a part of their education, actually.
They say, we have…so, they…at school they’ll talk about…they’ll do a report on it with…they’ll have to cite their sources and all those things. Okay, that’s very interesting. So, someone could be some sort of demigod figure. Yeah. So, the children pop up, and they each as a part of…'cause it’s not just for one class, but too hard to explain at this moment. They’ll say different catchphrases or things that they've…that they already did as a part of their presentation that…and they’ll say it in a silly voice or whatever. They can kinda do it…usually they work…this is…if kids are coming in…so, if there was…anyone that isn't a part of our…the school system, they're a guest in town, one of the children in our school system would mentor them. So, they would work as a team. We have temporary, less-elaborate costumes for guests to wear. So yeah, they’ll pop up and they’ll say like, too-loodle-oo, I see you, even though I don't know that that’s necessarily any god or goddess or demigod or whatever.
But they say, well, that was…let me tell you about the history of my Aunt Mable, you know? Then twenty, thirty…she was known to be the town toodle-oo’er. She was the only person in town that said…it’d have to be more substance than that, but you get where I’m going Miss Marple? Okay, so for the next two minutes the…no, just for one minute the children are popping up and saying things, and it sounds a bit like nonsense. Okay, interesting. They…so, they're doing that from minute…technically from the start of minute four to the end of minute four. Yeah, and we have these big boards. It’s not…it can go out one minute, but we do try to stick to the rules. But it’s all supposed to be fun. We just give the rules for structure, right, and it actually gives variety. Yeah, that makes sense. You have…yeah, I can see what you're doing here. I greatly respect it and I am awed in a…your structure is giving me awe. Well, thank you, Miss Marple. That means a lot.
Now, for the last minute what happens? Okay, the last minute actually…it extends a little bit longer than that, but it starts…this does seem unconventional, right? But we have all these people gathered that you can see, and then you could see all these boots in the background, right? Oh yeah, I do see all these boots. Now, this is different but it’s also a form…remember, this is a celebration. So, all these boots represent different places, different vendors in our area, or different things including things we only serve here at the fair that people enjoy but that are also…make a very particular scent when they're being prepared. So, all the booths are in waiting, and then at the fourth minute they start preparing the dishes in a active way. We do make…you can't see them, but there’s fans built into the front of each booth fanning the things. So, let’s just say for example something like funnel cake. There is a lot of frying, obviously, 'cause it’s a popular thing, you know? Or grilling or cooking.
So, those smells will be starting to waft towards the competitors and towards the audience. So, then at the end of minute five, everybody goes and lines up to have a snack. But the competitors, they get ready for the next round. Well, so they don't get any…? No, they have snack breaks, too, but not…during the first couple rounds they're getting warmed up. But then otherwise there’s…it’s not a break for them, basically. They still have to keep it balanced. Okay, and then each round…so, that would go on for, what, twenty or thirty minutes? Yeah, twenty…actually twenty-five minutes exactly, Miss Marple. So, that’s round thirty. Then they would get their break at the end of thirty-five to switch to the next thing while everybody else gathers. They stop the lines at a certain point or whatever, then they get to have a little break during those five minutes and maybe have a snack. Then we reset and we start again. Miss Marple said, okay, so, why am I here?
The person said, well, to be awed, obviously. Miss Marple said, but I’m here to help with the…I was told there was a case of too many giggles. They said, yeah, that’s what’s happening, Miss Marple, is that lately what’s been happening is that at some point we haven't been able to…it’s just that at some point this…we’ve been trying…this is like…this event was supposed to be done already, but we’ve only been able to get to the ten-pole point, which is not an official…we can't call it a round until you get to the twelve-foot pole, otherwise we’re…we say our poles have not completed, and we just don't have enough mosaic, though this…right now…so, somehow we got through the first round with the five-foot pole because it’s kinda easy. But now we’ve been stuck at the ten-foot pole for six days, and the people are…we’ve been…I mean, it’d be good moving forward because we’ve been changing up the vendors and stuff. We didn't have enough salmon. So, it was very resource intensive.
We even debated just giving up. But what’s been…it’s just never happened before that during the quiet minutes people are getting the giggles, and then it’s become one of those things; once some…once you're not supposed to giggle and you have the giggles, then other people get the giggles. We have a rule; no…always be nice. So, you're not allowed to criticize someone for giggling, which actually makes you more likely to giggle, 'cause if your first instinct is to tell someone to stop giggling and then you have to sit with that and say, oh, I know you want to stop someone from giggling, but that’s…they're just giggling. So, why don't you sit with your desire to make them stop giggling and follow the rules and just realize…? And then you probably start giggling yourself.
Then it just creates more and more giggling and then more…and then eventually the contestants start giggling because they're trying not to giggle, and then they're make…they're saying if the other person’s gonna giggle, as soon as they make eye contact, they start giggling. It’s really hard to hold a salmon on a thin, triangular pole, 'cause each salmon is different to balance anyway, 'cause it’s ceramic. We do have certain standards, but we don't…I can't…obviously can't get into that. The old kilm check. So, then they fall and break. So, we haven't been able to get through it, and we haven't figured out what to do about the giggling, like to…'cause it’s…now that it’s stopped…we even try. You know when you do that, you're like, okay, just stop, stop, stop. Nobody giggle. We can't even make it through a minute. It’s just been…again, we're like, should we change the rules and just have no crowd? Should we just give up? But we said, man, there’s gotta be something to this. It’s a mystery.
Miss Marple said, okay, well, I think I know one solution that I’ve…I'm surprised you haven't come up with, but we’ll talk about that. But first I want to just get a basic understanding so that we can lean into this and maybe be awed. Do you feel like there’s a reason you're in a season of giggles here in town? Like, what’s it been like leading up to this Triple G, Great…? Like, are you feeling more…has this been a season where you've felt more Gargameled, if you don't mind me using it as a…? I don't know if that’s a noun or not. I’m not a vocabularist. You're asking if this past season leading up to the Triple G Fest has had more of a essence of…has been more Gargamelgan? Gargamelgan…Gargamelgian? Gargamelgan. Yeah, like more Gargamel-esque. It has, Miss Marple.
Yeah, I mean, we just felt like as much as we tried to focus on the good and the wonder and looking forward to other festivals or all the work that we have to do, each person living their life and all that and the excite…having this festival to look forward to, we do do this festival at a time that’s a tougher time of the year for most people to give us something to really lean into. But once the great gray season…but yeah, I think it’s been a tougher time for us, Miss Marple. Yeah. Okay, well, that helps me answer that. Well, I would say that…here's one thing that…maybe you had to get my perspective that…this doesn't seem obvious, but I would say this has got…we’ve got…there’s a couple good things we have. The giggling is good, right? Well, the giggling’s good except in this situation, 'cause we can't move forward. But giggling in general is good. People are enjoying the giggling. It’s just that you're kinda stuck in this cycle right now and you're not sure where to turn, and then you got…you called in…you asked for some outside perspective.
So, that’s good, too. Also, I’m struck by the fact of…I don't know if you've ever read the famous book never written by Gingerbread Press called The Secrets in Alliteration. Is that the secrets end in alliteration…in alliteration? Shouldn't it have some alliteration in it? It should. I think it probably has a subtitle that hasn't been written yet, but…Sublime Secrets Alluding in Alliteration or something like that. But the fact that giggling and the Great Gargamel Games…I'm just struck by that fact. Oh, Miss Marple, yeah, we wouldn't even have thought that, 'cause we call it the Triple G Games, mostly. Also because they said you can't use that word. We said, it’s just a name. They said, could you show us somebody else that’s been named Gargamel before? We had trouble. We should have called you in the case of no Gargamels and no real Gargamels, but it was easily solved with a search. Are you sure? Well, just within this vicinity.
They said the likelihood of Gargamel being here is not provable, so…but anyway, we could still call…we could still vocalize. We just can't have any signs that say Great Gargamel Games. That’s why we call it the Triple G Games. It’s just not as…I don't want to get into the weeds here. Miss Marple said, okay, yeah. So, I think what we need to do, then, is get out the giggles, right, is to change one of the minutes and not have a silent minute. Like, have a giggles-required minute, a giggling minute. I think the thing with the children, that that point is…so, I think maybe not having a silent minute…this is what my pitch is. You could try it, is to start out that minute with the children and the…getting all that going, right? The children do that thing first. Then they keep going. So, they don't stop. So, at minute zero…maybe the first thirty seconds are set for setup, but the children could start anywhere between zero…once the fish are up there or something, and then the adults or whatever are encouraged to giggle.
Permission to giggle granted, maybe they say. Oh, Miss Marple, I love that. Before the fish go up, permission to giggle granted. Welcome to the Great Gargamel Games. Permission to giggle granted. Okay. Then they put the fish up and they start balancing them. So, the children are doing their thing, there’s giggling, then you slowly…I think the children could keep going as long as they want. Then you go into the noise-making and all that. Then in the last minute, maybe you encourage a slow descent towards silence, but more of having people focus on smells and the sounds and anticipating the booths, which would make it somewhat more distracting for the contestants, but they would still be able to focus. So, it wouldn't be like the giggling is causing them a physical giggling reaction which makes it hard to balance. But people…permission to giggle is granted at all times.
But then during that last minute, the anticipation of the booths, the smelling of the booths, the wondering, making the connections…maybe the booths are secret, too. Is that…? Yeah, we already…thanks, Miss Marple. We're on the same page, yeah. No one knows what the booths are cooking ‘til they start cooking them. Yeah, so then people are like, which booth am I gonna get in line for? The contestants are kinda focused on that as well. Then, yeah, you go for your break. Okay, Miss Marple. Yeah, we didn't even think about…I think a couple people said, just let everybody giggle. But the idea that we're granting explicitly permission to giggle granted…if the permission to giggle is granted, then you can't have too many giggles, right, Miss Marple? That’s my thoughts exactly. So, this is why this tale became legend, because then the Great Gargamel Games…technically the Triple G Games…permission to giggle was granted.
This particular year, what they found is that they actually had to extend the games because they did hit a thirty-five-foot record, both contestants. But then because the focus…because they had permission to be silly and then they followed this flow…but then they were all focusing…but even though focusing was optional, and then they were focusing on…what am I gonna have during my break? That they were able to get to thirty-five feet, which was unheard of, of balancing these ceramic salmons. Then they built the mosaics. It was just another wonderful thing existing out there in the world. Goodnight, everybody.

- Marple
Her cat is Marbles Marple
I don’t remember much about her history
But she’s not the one you’re thinking of
Right now, she’s focused on good things
The Case of Too Many Giggles
How could that be possible?
Marbles, come here
Settling in for a long winter’s chat
Marbles is good at passive listening
Marbles Marple, Esquire: My fur does the listening
Marple wants to be awed today
How could there be too many giggles in the world?
The Subtractive Game of De-Giggling
Awed and Aww-ed
She’ll take the case!
She brings her cat and her accoutrements
Portable air purifier (for other folks and Marbles)
Maybe that’s where she got her lifestyle from
The Cat-ifier
An air purifier that’s comforting to cats
Not 100% effective, but very conscientious
People discovered the value of it as a regular old portable air purifier
Designed for a full day of travel
I’m cat-ified!
Conscientious Cat Travelers
I don’t know if it has a HEPA filter
Anyway, she was traveling with Marbles and the catifier
Marbles has a pram, but they’re not leashed
Ultra-durable, ultra-portable cat accoutrements
Hmm, maybe she has two cats, Marble and Marbles
The cat can be named whatever you like. I’ll be saying both.
She traveled out to the place where there were too many giggles
A great celebration and a great fair
People were spread out, rooting for one person
Some sort of competition
She’s not the fictional Marple they were hoping for
The competition has been delayed by the giggles!
Gathering to share stories to make sense of the world
The Great Gargamel Games
(Yes, from The Smurfs)
Not needing an explanation is a form of awe
The original concept
Some people are dressed as Smurfs
But in this version, Gargamel became in charge of things
Explaining Smurfs and Gargamel
Very mammal-like
Gargamel’s a cauldron caster
Every year, a cauldron caster must refresh their skills at a union conference
In this world, humans and Smurfs are the same size
Gargamel is gone for a week, hence the Great Gargamel Games
This festival was ultimately a way to re-instill awe
Identifying with the spirit of sentient woodland creatures
Not quite into Dionysus territory
Some people dress up in blue
You don’t have to be blue to be you
Today was the pinnacle event of the Games
A 10-foot piece of wood
The piece of wood is a 3D triangle that slowly tapers to a point. (A cone?)
Lifesize, ceramic sculptures of large fish
We also call the games Triple G Week
Does SmurfCon or PeyoCon exist? If not, ™
Each person has to balance a fish on their pole
Don’t let the fish fall and break
We recycle the fish pieces in murals
And the designer of the fish also wins a prize
Can we just say Ceramic Salmon?
Goodheart J-E-E-R-I-N-G
There’s 2 symbolic characters to root for
First minute, silence
3rd minute, horns, vuvuzelas, noise
What’s up with this backdrop?
Almost like bleachers
Plywood shaped like puffy clouds
Behind the clouds are the children of the area
Dressed up as anything from mythology
This is the culmination of a research project for school
Saying catchphrases from their presentations in silly voices
So the children pop up, speaking nonsense, starting at the end of minute 4
Your structure is giving me awe
What about the last minute?
People gathering
See the booths in the background?
The booths represent different vendors in our area
Things wish a specific scent that you only encounter at fairs
Fans waft the scents towards the competitors
The competitors do get snack breaks
So why is Marple here?
This event is already supposed to be done
But our poles are not completed
We’ve been stuck on the 10 foot pole for six days
During the quiet minutes, people are getting the giggles
Rule: Always Be Nice
The giggles spread
It’s hard to do this while giggling
We haven’t been able to get through it without giggling
How do we get through this? It’s a mystery
Marple has a solution
Is there a reason for this season of giggles?
Has this been a season where it felt more Gargamelian?
It really has
Marple’s solution
First off, giggling is good in general
Have you ever read The Secrets in Alliteration, from Gingerbread Press?
Giggling at the Great Gargamel Games is clearly something…
We’re legally not allowed to mention Gargamel, but ah well
We gotta get out the giggles
Change the minutes, and don’t have a silent minute
Giggles-Required Minute
Start with the children minute
Permission to giggle granted
Maybe you later encourage a descent into silence
Focus on their other senses as we anticipate the smelling of the booths
Maybe the contents of the booths are secret, too
And then you go for a break
Explicit permission means you can’t have too many giggles
And this is how this tale became legend
And that year, they had to extend the games because they hit a 35 foot record
Permission to giggle led to a new kind of flow state
Another wonderful thing, existing out there in the world
