A friend recently saw you at a conference and Florida, and when she came back she told me about your podcast. I have been listening ever since and cannot thank you enough. I actually look forward to going to bed, for the first time in over 20 years! Thank you!
As an aside – any chance you will be bringing back the t-shirts?
Thanks! And thank your friend for me!!! What was their first name? So happy to make you look forward to bed.
We will have new shirts at some point in the next few months. Thank you!
Her name was Lori – not sure if she met you or not but I am so glad she found out about the podcast!
I just started listening since a couple of months ago, not every night, but frequently. My favorite episode so far is the River Ride. More like that please; it was the most successful at putting me to sleep. I don’t much care for the Dr. Who resumes. They are mildly annoying.
Another suggestion would be to put this comment block at the top of all the comments rather than at the bottom. I wasn’t sure if it would even be there after all my scrolling scrolling scrolling.
Anyway, I think I’m sort of falling in love with the way your mind works, if “works” is the right word. Keep the show a-goin’ as you say.
Thanks! Happy to help. Will look at that comment change.
Hi Scoots,
Just wanted to give a most sincere, heartfelt thank you to you for your podcasts. I deal with anxiety during the day and was really suffering at bedtime not being able to stop my brain from racing. Somebody mentioned you in the anxiety subreddit and I am so grateful. I am a stay at home mom to a beautiful 4 year old boy and the sleepless nights were affecting us both. Apparently when I look at my phone in the morning, I don’t ever make it past the 12 minute mark on any of your soothing rambles. Thank you so so much. Hope you have a great day!
So happy you found the show!!!
Dear Scoots, I love this poscast as well as Sleep to Strange. I listen just about every night and your voice is just so relaxing. You truly have a gift thank you. JUST SO YOU KNOW, snowflake snowflake snowflake snowflake snowflake.
Hhahaha you got me! Thanks!
Dear Scoots,
I’m not sure how many listeners you have in Paris, France but rest assured that there is at least one. I cannot thank you enough for the podcast. For the first time in many years, I’ve been able to set aside pills for going back to sleep. I’ve gotten to the point where all I need is to hear you say “welcome boys and girls” and I nod off. I watched the video of you thanking for Patreon support and while I was delighted to now have a face to associate with your voice I found myself getting drowsy 🙂 I truly believe you have a rare and unrecognized talent of being able to be both interesting and boring at the same time. Best from Wayne in Paris
Thanks Wayne! Thank you for the support as well!
Loving the Phish, Umphrey’s and They Might Be Giants mentions/references. Maybe you can bore us with some tales from Gamehenge some time.
Ha! Thanks for catching them!

I have had insomnia for over 25 years (problem staying asleep) and about 18 months ago a friend mentioned something she heard on CBC about a podcast to help people sleep – she couldn’t remember the name and said they couldn’t play part of it on the radio because people might fall asleep while driving. I then heard a segment about Sleep with Me on NXNW (on CBC) and I have been a devoted listener since. I started as far back as I could and am now up to August 2016 and figure I will get up to date in a post-Obama Trump era in about 6 months. Now when I wake up I just plug in and I have to say sometimes I think your observations are brilliant – might be the middle of the night grogginess though.
AND just to let you know that from my West Coast Canadian discernment your pronunciation of “podcast” sounds like “paawdcast” – makes me laugh every time.
Just sent a measly US$12 (Cdn. $15.87) – was planning on sending more but the next option was US $60 – why no amount in between?
Thanks for the support and for listening. We get most of our support over at http://www.patreon.com/sleepwithme where people support the show on a monthly basis at $1/$5/$10/$20 levels a month. Our paypal links are for people who prefer to make a once a year, value for value payment for our pawdcast.
Thanks!
I have tried three times to update my credit card for the $5 month donation – I go to the Patreon page, and it sees my name – but the page just “spins” – won’t go thru.
What can I do to get this fixed so I can donate?
please contact Patreon support. support.patreon.com
Hi, I really enjoy your show, and I was listening to it from the beginning on stitcher, but for the last week or so, it seems like all the episodes I try to listen to give me an error and say they are no longer available. I was just wondering what was going on, if you were aware, and how I can get my listening fix? It would be a shame if I had to miss out on the older episodes…
Have you contacted Sticher about the issue? I will take a look but the podcast is working on all other apps. You might try a nice free one like Radiopublic https://play.radiopublic.com/sleep-with-me-the-podcast-that-puts-you-to-sleep-WP0KXW
Dearest scooter
Been listening to your podcast for about 4 weeks since job loss and extreme insomnia/anxiety/depression. Still lying awake all night but I’m so thankful for your company. My favourite part is the thanks at the end of the show. Any chance of a special podcast with just 30 – 60 minutes of combined thank you and good night messages?
We do stuff like all intro episodes on patreon…I could do this for sure on there.
This has helped me so far. Going to give it another couple weeks and see how it goes.
So is this weird…
I liked your stories so much I started listening to a few of them at work. Right now I’m working my way thru the first “Get Besos” story. I have to know the the complete story, but I fall asleep before I get even half way into the episode at night.
I don’t what it is, but some of these, I can’t remember the last time I laughed so hard. The Goonies and Back to the Future Tale of the Tape’s. Also two of my all time favorite movies of all time as well, by the way. You had me in tears I was laughing so hard. The way you tell it, I think is similar to how I might explain the movies. Maybe that was it, I don’t know, they just got to me. Great stuff man.
Or how about when Sears is trying to get Besos to give up on life. The things he suggests Besos should do. Geez. Maybe I just have a strange sense of humor.
Anyway. Thanks.
Thanks for enjoying them. There is a certian number of listeners who like to sleep AND listen during the day as well. Happy you are one of them!
I didn’t even realize how much you were helping me fall asleep until I tried to sleep without you… and immediately after this realization I made sure to show my appreciation on patreon. Thank you!!!
Happy to help! Thanks for giving value back!!!
You are a God send. I have horrible, unpredictable insomnia and your voice never fails to put me into a deep sleep. Thank you!
PS, your voice also stops my 3 month old kitten from bouncing on my head and puts him to sleep.
Glad to hear it!!
Hey scooter. I just wanted to say that I have thoroughly enjoyed your work and time spent making this podcast and I appreciate it very much. I especially recently like your TNG series, partially because I’ve never seen the show so I don’t know who/what you’re talking about (which makes it even more Luling and monotonous-perfect!) I am a young man from Alberta, Canada and I work swing shifts. Sometimes it seems that the only way to get to sleep when it’s seven AM and the sun is rising is to listen to the podcast. So thank you. I have to say that one of my all-time favourite episodes and what solidified me as a recurring listener are your personal tales. More specifically, your “Lady Ontario” stories and adventures at the family reunion drinking too much coca cola 😂 again, thank you for all that you do, and I hope you and your daughter are safe, happy and healthy. Live Long And Prosper, my friend.
Thanks!!! Engage!
Help! What has happened? Starting about a week ago, Scooter is talking at warp speed. The podcast now has the opposite effect–it keeps me up. Anyone know what’s happening? I have had to go back to sleeping pills
You may have hit the speed button in your podcast app or on the player that you use. Look for something that says 1x 1.5x or 2x. This changes the playback speed on the podcast app. Or ask for help in our listener facebook group over at http://www.sleepwithmepodcast.com/nods
Oh no! Something terriable has happened! The new iOS 11 upgrade of Apple products does not allow continuous play of podcasts. I recently found you and discovered that if I played you all night I slept all night. I also just recommended you to afriend that is having trouble sleeping. I believe she uses an Apple product also.
You could contact apple, or try a different podcast app. Patrons of the podcast at $10 and up also get superlong cuts of the show once a month.
I don’t even know what this podcast is about. I usually fall asleep right after the song about the Amazon link.
I’m glad it works so well for you!
I tried “Sleep with Me” in desperation. I have a very stressful startup company and I’d spent the last year anxiously laying awake, cursing my peacefully sleeping husband, as the night would stretch endlessly ahead of me Often, I’d move to the spare bed (to no avail) There were weeks when I gave up trying to sleep with my husband at all. Now, there are three of us tucked into bed for 8 solid hours of sleep every night – hubby, me and my boredfriend. No more racing mind keeping me awake. The activity is drowned by your meandering and slightly crazy story telling. And every now and then I catch myself chuckling in the middle of the night. THANK YOU
You are welcome! So happy to be of service!
Dearest Scooter,
I just wanted to let you know how much I’m loving Sleep to Strange, as well as Sleep with Me! I’m a patron and I can’t tell you how much your podcasts are helping me. I’ve never watched Game of Thrones, so I’m not as into those epi’s as much as the older SWM’s or the Sleep to Strange. I love Nuns in Space! Please keep Sleep to Strange going, if at all possible. Thanks!
Beth
I’m sorry we did not reach our goals to sustain sleep to strange. I hope you have access to your patreon RSS feed where there are story only episodes.
Dear Scooter,
Thanks so much for creating this podcast. A friend recommended it to me, and it really saved me this past year. I had a terrible year at work and was sleeping horribly due to stress and the depressing effects of feeling stuck and unappreciated at work. Your creaky dulcet tones soothed me and distracted me, and on those occasional nights when I didn’t fall asleep, I at least had kind, respectful company.
Happy to help be there! Thank your friend for sharing the show on my behalf.
I don’t usually leave comments for podcasts (even though I should) but I just wanted to thank you. We’re not your typical customer as I use the podcast typically to soothe scared foster dogs I bring in from a rescue. I recently brought in a heartbroken 6 year old lab mix who was rescued by her owner when she was a puppy. Her owner unexpectedly passed away leaving the dog alone and grieving. Sweet Polly spent a week at a halfway home pacing and whining. Last night, I turned on the podcast, laid down next to her and saw visible comfort sweep over her. She listens to the podcast on repeat while I’m at work and it helps to soothe her separation anxiety. Thank you for coming up with this beautiful concept.
Thanks for sharing! I’m here working on the podcast with my dog who is recovering from surgery laying right here at my feet. I’m happy to help comfort whomever I can.
This is coming to you from North Pole, Alaska. It is hard to sleep here in the summer with 24 hours of daylight. I have only just discovered you about two weeks ago, and I eagerly anticipate each episode. You help me get to sleep! Keep up the boring, meandering, stories. I love it!
I hope the podcast helped this summer and can be there for you this winter as well!
Hi, my name is Anna and I’m from Sweden! I was trying to sleep yesterday and I got so desperate that I just typed in “sleep” on Spotify to get some relaxing music. But.. thankfully I stumbled across your podcast!! I was a bit sceptic at first, but really liked that you created a safe place in the start, my toughts stopped running immediately. Then.. I actually felt that I was beginning to fall asleep! I thought, ok now Im really tierd at last, maybe I should turn it off? But I did not even got the chance to do it because I slept. Amazing. I had no expectations, but really thank you. I dont know how you did it and I dont remember what you talked about but it sure worked for me!
I love that it helps! Sweden is one of our top countries for listeners!!! Thank you so much.
I just wish I could write a regular, private letter to you, not email, twitter or Facebook. Your podcast has helped me so much in so many ways. I started watching Star Trek Next Generation again just so I could listen to your podcasts on the various episodes. I am only on Season 3, but, besides looking forward to going to sleep for the first time in my life, I also look forward to watching these shows!!!
I listen every night. Actually my internet went out last night for an hour and I was panicking thinking “oh my god how will I sleep!” I love it is so super comforting. Keep em coming!
Thanks so much! Happy you found the podcast!!!
Is this working? I don’t see any new posts.
It is easier to reach me on twitter or facebook…I try to maintain the website best I can but most of my time goes into the podcast production side of things! i will do my best to try and keep an eye on these website comments. Thanks so much for listening. Feel free to ask any questions you have here if that is most convient for you.
I’m generally not a review writer, but I just have to say that Sleep With Me has been a literal life changer. Last week, I was on my sixth or seventh straight night of tossing and turning when I remembered hearing another Feral Audio podcaster mention Sleep With Me. I downloaded a few episodes and popped in my ear phones, figuring that at best, it would be a welcome distraction. Next thing I knew, it was morning and I’d been asleep for hours. Honestly, this podcast has changed the way I approach going to bed. Instead of a sick feeling in my stomach wondering whether I’ll still be up when the sun rises, I look forward to falling asleep, which is something I never imagined would happen. As a full time graduate student, I’m not in a position to contribute financially at the moment, but I do plan to become a patron as soon as I’m able. In the mean time, I just wanted to say how grateful I am to you for restoring my anxiety-free relationship with sleep. I’m so glad this podcast exists!
Thanks for the kind words!!!
I never post comments on the internet.
I’m making an exception this time to express my gratitude towards you. I stumbled upon your podcast last night and it worked so well! Thank you for putting me to sleep, you are what I’ve been missing for the past 10 years. Keep up the good work Drew!
Love from Montreal
Steph
Thanks!!!
Hello! I recently discovered the podcast on Spotify and I want to thank you from tje bottom of my jeart. It came when I most needed it. Im struggling with some mental health problems including anxiety attacks and its very easy to lose sleep. Your podcasts help me immensely to relax and put aside thoughts. I dont have much money but Im spreading the word on tje podcast to friends and family. Thanks for helping people like me.
Pardon the grammar, big fingers 😅
Glad to know the podcast can be there for you!
Hi Scooter,
Thankyou so much for keeping me company and putting me back to sleep every night of the week. I don’t have trouble falling asleep but wake multiple times during the night and always struggle to get back to sleep. Your podcast has eased the anxiety about not getting enough sleep for the following day.
You’re a rock star! I’ve set up a monthly $5 patreon donation to help you live the dream… and help me dream more!
Sweet dreams,
Bec in Ballarat, Australia.
PS. I loved the intro about your crazy dog Koa!
Thanks for the support!!!
Hi Scooter, Thanks so much for the podcast! Have now used it 3 times and has worked for me every time. It’s made such a difference, thank you. I have donated — I hope others do too! best wishes!
Toby
Thanks for the support, glad to help!!!
You get so many of these stories …. how can I explain to you how much you have changed my life? As a child I had nightmares and night terrors. My sister always fell asleep immediately when we went to bed. As an adult, my husband also falls asleep immediately. As a child I would ask my sister, and as an adult I would ask my husband, ‘tell me a story’. Yes, as a 40 year old woman I would ask my husband to tell me a story. And it would help – sometimes. But they always got sleepy far earlier then I did. And as I heard their voices get sleepy, my panic would increase. Sometime at the end of last year, my husband googled something like ‘story to put my wife to sleep’ as a joke while we laid in bed … and he found your show. I listen at home – I listen during the most routine of times. I listen on vacation, when sick, when worried, when fine, when stressed. I can count on one hand the times in the last six months when you didn’t put me to sleep. And quickly at that. It has been TRULY life changing for a grown woman who has lived her entire life afraid to go to bed. No matter how tired I was, I was always dreading going to bed. Because if a nightmare didn’t interrupt my sleep, then taking soooo long to fall asleep would. Not only do I fall asleep but I much more often STAY asleep. So thank you and thank you and thank you. I’ve become a 10 dollar a month patron. I was afraid of jinxing its effectiveness by becoming a patron as crazy as that sounds. But if you know what it feels like to hate to go to sleep, you know how you would fear suddenly losing what has always eluded you. But I have faith … you’ll get me to sleep tonight too. : )
I just wanted to leave a comment to let you know how much I appreciate your work. I don’t regularly have trouble sleeping but occasionally get what I call “monkey brain”. Yesterday I saw my oncologist and that’s never a fun appointment. I can distract myself pretty well during the day but at night it is just you and your crazy thoughts and getting to sleep last night was going to be crazy until I remembered your show. Usually I try and try and then “give in” to your show (I’ve been listening on and off since 2015, when I lived in Mexico). Last night I found my headphones, plugged in, found a cast (even without glasses :)) and I’m not sure I even made it to the meat of the “story”. I wonder if you have an archive of the older casts though as last night there were some gaps (that didn’t really bother me, but still). I’m going to sign up as a Patreon and I just really wanted to thank you for your work. It is SO necessary!
PS to above comment; lest you think my daughter and I totally ninnies, we did try to put the two girls together, but they kicked and fought each other to the point of possibly disturbing others at this spa type place.
Scooter, I started with $1 a month to Patreon, but I am going to up it to $5 after my experience this weekend. I was in Calistoga for a relaxing two days with my daughter and 2 and 5 year old granddaughters. We decided I could sleep with the 5 year old. (I mean, who wants to sleep with a 2 year old?) My daughter did not tell me not only does this child flop her body over to the other side of the bed about once an hour, but grinds her teeth on the half hour. I was up all night, and only your podcast saved me from total irritation. I simply cannot thank you enough. To top it off, the drive back to the Bay Area was even more than the usual nightmare because of my total sleep deprived state. Do you know what saved me when I got home? My very first delivery of MeUndies!!! I had chosen a very happy Hawaiian type blue ocean design, and everything you said about the way they feel and look is true!!! Not only do I love your podcast, but I love your ads, too!!! I feel like, where in the world did you come from?
Scooter:
I love your Game of Drones podcasts the best. With Season 7 Coming up, maybe you could get us ready for that by doing a few more Game of Drones episodes, and I hope you will be doing something about Season 7 at some point. Hey Sleep With me Community, Am I right?
Thank you so much for this podcast. Even on the rare nights that I can’t fall asleep to your voice; you still make me laugh. It’s very sweet the way you send your love to people you don’t even know.
So I’ve had to take pills since turning a teenager every night to fall asleep. I’ve been through dozens of brands, European, American, etc. It’s either medicine or wait for the sun to come up and fall asleep naturally (cause I’m of vampiric descent). I happened upon your podcast -which is the first ever podcast I have ever listened to- on Spotify and I’ve been using it every night for about a week now. I am completely unaware of what happens after the intro, and to be honest, I rather like it that way. Even after falling asleep to you and waking up in the middle of the night, you still manage to send me right back. It’s amazing what you guys do and how I know nothing of how you do it. I just wanted to let you know I really, really appreciate all of you guys and after 5 years of nightly pill-popping, I am absolutely indebted to you! Thank you and I promise to donate soon!!
Hi, Scoots.
I started listening to your podcast about a year and a half ago when I moved to Barcelona and had trouble sleeping. I’ve always been a night owl, which sounds better than insomniac, I think. Anyhow, I became a patron because it’s the one podcast I have to listen to regularly, as I usually have fall to asleep watching or listening to something, and what better way to fall asleep then by listening to a sleep podcast! I do have one request, although I don’t know that you can honor it, but when I listen to an episode, for example, like the one about soup, it’s hard for me as a vegan to listen to you talk about chicken noodle soup. Also, you sound like a pretty compassionate person, so you might want to try eating vegan or at least eating less meat. Back when I used to be able to go to Trader Joe’s, they had a pretty good selection. I’m fairly certain the Joe-Joe’s, I think the cookies are called, are vegan. Just a suggestion, but no pressure! Thanks for the great podcast; it definitely helps get me through the deep, dark night.
Take care,
Kevin
Thank you very much for taking the time to make these podcasts.
It has saved me from insomnia many many times… I sleep to them every night.
Keep on the good job!
dearest scooter, im not sure really how to get in touch with you, ive been listening for a year now and i support you on a monthly basis..im not sure how to listen or where on my computer..i think you give those who support a few perks? (episodes with no intros or something) where do i find those? keep up the great work. just being yourself is the best gift you can ever give, and you are helping me so much. thank you. peace…deb
Dear Scooter,
I’m commenting because I’m having trouble making a one-off donation via Venmo. After trying to create a new account, and hitting ‘complete signup’, the page just stalls. Just thought you should know. I tried about 4 times this evening. Will try again tomorrow night.
I’ve been listening for a few months now and thought it was high time I actually donated, to show you how much I value your show. I have a 9-year old who has trouble getting to sleep, while I myself have insomnia on and off, which gets worse when stressed (like everyone else!). Nothing soothes and relaxes us quite like your podcast. There’s a definite anxiety alleviating thing happening. It’s like auditory valium! My kid loves the Mystery Bard and looks forward to his songs. The Star Trek episodes are my favourite. Please know that you are doing such a very good thing for many, many people. Your kindness and warmth shines through your monologues. Thanks for all the hard work!
I’d also really like to buy some merch. A t-shirt would be great! But you don’t have any for sale yet?
SS & W, in Sydney Australia
Thanks so much! I’m not sure about Venmo, the best way to support is via Patreon. Even $1 a month is a HUGE help. We do have Vemno and Paypal as options but they are not as easy to use sometimes as Patreon. Thanks for trying to support the show.
I’m sorry happy to hear the podcast helps both you and your son!!!
We don’t have merch right now. We might have some down the road!
This was the situation in my house tonight:
9 year old: I am not sleepy! Not! Not! Not! BEDTIME IS FOR LITTLE CHILDREN AND OLD PEOPLE.
Me: Uhuh. *puts on Sleep with Me podcast*
[10 minutes into a detailed description of Scooter making a salad]
9-year old: zzZzzZZZ…
I am grateful to you for your ridiculous genius. After partaking of this podcast, gratis, for several months now, I finally signed up on Patreon to support the show at $5 a month!
Sonia and Willa, sound asleep in Sydney.
Caught myself listening to this podcast 3 – 6 times a week now! Don’t have a lot to spare but donated $5 because I love the podcast and think it deserves some of my money now and then just like Spotify, Netflix etc does.
Scoots, you do you and keep doing you!
Love from The Netherlands 🙂
Thanks! Yeah sometimes it is hard to communicate the value of the podcast when it is free, that a tone of hard work goes into making it. I’m glad there are listners like you who realize it and are willing to return some of the value they get out of the show. Thanks SO MUCH!!
I’ve been listening since episode 10. I’m 14 and I you have helped me fall asleep for the past year. I just want to say thanks.
My daughter and I have been enjoying Sleep With Me off and on since the After The Glass Slipper days. I really enjoyed your Back to the Future Tape episode recently. You had the both of us cracking up when you spent ten minutes analyzing the verb “shotputting,” because we are prone to that kind of meandering nonsense as well. We are sending a Venmo contribution as a token of gratitude. I love your voice, and after all this time you feel like a real borefriend! Thanks Drew.
Hiya Scoots & Co,
Firstly, a side note: my main online handle is SscoootzZ ^_^
That said, my wife and I get a lot out of your programming and really appreciate your efforts, as well as all the work your team puts forth to make this happen. I can’t commit to a lot right now, though that’s in the works; my wife and I plan to make a donation commitment soon. We also talk up your program as often as we can to help grow your listener base. In the meantime, we’ll do what we can and we’re willing to use your AMZ affiliate link. Also, I’d like to commission a Mother’s Day song with the Mystery Bard. On that note, I noticed that the link to Jonathan’s website is broken on the mainpage. There are 2 “URLs”: http://www.jonathan and mann.net. These links do not click through to Jonathan’s homepage. Just wanted to let y’uns know for the sake of maintenance.
Thanks again for everything you do. Long live The Drone!
Scott (SscoootzZ)
This is amazing! I must say I didn’t believe it works, but it totally does from day 1!!! I will play it to my daughter (2.5 year old), and report back. If she sleeps like I did … I’ll probably write to all the pediatric sleep experts with a link to this. Thank you so much!!!
OMG. What a voice. My husband’s the one sleep eludes. But we discovered years ago that listening to someone blab away about something we’re not interested in is a great soporific. I have a book on Amazon.com Kickin’ Back With Cozy Short Stories. Maybe they can lull folks to sleep…
Keep up the…good…..z.z.z.z.z.z
Thanks!!!
You are the best person ever. I’ll be honest and a little open I guess, but I’ve tried numerous medications and that never goes well I’m sure you or anyone knows, but this podcast made me not have to rely on medication to put me to sleep. Not to mention how great I feel and how ready and happy I am when I wake up in the morning. I hope to one day shake your hand and thank you for everything that you do. I appreciate you and your fantastic team and work that they and you do.
-David
I hope to meet you one day too! Happy to help and thanks so much for listening to the show!
This podcast has changed how I fall asleep. I have tried near everything: ear plugs, chamomile tea, special pillows, melatonin, reading before bed, counting sheep, yoga, visualizations, deep breathing, you name it. Recently, I was in a rut where I couldn’t fall asleep and stay asleep unless I had calming music playing in the background…all…night…long. With the Sleep With Me podcast, I kid you not, it took one listen, and I was out within 20 minutes. Now I listen every night, and am sleeping more because I fall asleep quicker. I want to do my part to keepthis amazing podcast on the air, hopefully for many more years to come. Thank you for reaching out to us Scooter, as you do, across the deep dark night!
Thanks for reaching out to support the show across the deep dark night!
Dear Scooter,
I can no longer resist the urge to send you a thank you note for your podcast. I have suffered from insomnia for years and was never able to find a solution that worked until I stumbled upon your podcast. I don’t even recall how I found it, I just remember that it was during one of my many sleepless nights. Before I found your podcast I’d tried everything you could think of: change in diet, change in sleep routine, medication, meditation, white noise, rain, etc. Your podcast sets me adrift into sleep every night without fail and I can’t thank you enough for it! I particularly love the Star Trek episodes, being a Trekkie myself that’s right up my alley. In fact I’ve listened to some episodes over 5 times because I prefer those. Please do more Star Trek episodes when/if you can! I’d love it if you ventured into Voyager:D
Thank you again so much, I will be recommending your podcast to all of my friends with sleep troubles.
Sincerely,
Cloey
Thanks for the kind words! I’m honored to help. The Trek should keep coming every Sunday other than a brief break in the start of April and then a break for the GoT season.
Thanks for spreading the word.
This is perfect if you are trying to get to sleep while detoxing.
Happy to help!
I found your podcast when a friend read the article in the NYTimes; all my friends know I can’t sleep. I have only listened to about 5 episodes so far, and when I am listening I don’t want to go to sleep because what I hear is an intelligent, deep, hilarious, but compassionate person. I listened to part of your interview on Fear Based Life, and I just have to tell you: all my life I have had this feeling DOOM hanging over me. The sleep issue is probably related to this. It is somewhat comforting knowing I am not alone with this. Thanks for doing this; it must be scary!
Thanks! Happy to be able to help with the relatable version of that doom feeling, we are not alone!
A lifetime of insomnia recently became devastatingly worse as a result of anxiety arising from some major challenges in my life, and the lack of sleep has been making it all the harder for me to handle my many caregiving duties for sick relatives. I just found your podcast a few days ago, and it’s been almost literally a lifesaver. Having your dulcet yet boring tones there in the deep dark night has sent me off to dreamland when nothing else has worked, and the extra sleep has given me the energy and resilience to carry on. Thank you so much for what you’re doing, Dearest Scooter and the whole team!
Thank you. You’ve tamed my brain bots, and they hang on your every word allowing me sweet, sweet peace. I tell everyone I that will listen about the podcast. Your creaky, dulcet tones lull me to sleep literally every night. I wish I would’ve known about this podcast while I was deployed to Afghanistan. Also, I especially enjoy your grocery shopping expeditions. Anymore coming up? I must say that my favorite episode is the one where you told us about the gerbils (hamsters?) that got loose in your house when you were kids and lived in the walls. True story or nah?
My earliest insomnia memory is at age 4 and “nap time” in kindergarten. Why were all those other kids able to sleep? Be that as it may, I absolutely love your podcast. Last night I was laughing under my covers with your Lorna Doone episode. Thank you so very much! PS. I am an expert at not sleeping as I have 71 years experience.
Hi Scooter
Just wondering if you are thinking about season 3 for after the glass slipper, my wife and I love it, we go to sleep listening every night
Keep up the great work
Wow…call me a superfan of sleepwithmepodcast. FINALLY, this big hunk of jello in my brain bucket can shut the hell up and let me get to sleep! Thanks so much, Drew, for the hard work you do in your closet. It is much appreciated.
Thanks for the kind works! Happy to help!
Hi scooter, i love your Woods of my youth podcasts because it was outside and it still had some sense in it.
I do love your other podcasts although i am a new listener i’d love to see some more episodes like that!
lately i’ve been very busy in my head at night and at random moments i have no idea what it is but you easy my mind a bit. only problem i have is that i never know what to listen to since there is so much content haha
much love,
Alex
Thanks! I’m going to try and release a on location episode every other month this year! Stay tuned!
Hi Scooter!!! I played your show at my girlfriends place one night when we were doing one of our girlie slumber parties, and the next time I went to see her, she played it, and said she listens all the time now! We are huge fans! So huge, in fact, that we’very been talking about doing a show in your honor called “Sleep With Me Too” (Too-2-get it, lol?), that we’ll probably just do once in a while for kicks😃
We have a really fun idea for our show that involves beginning each show with a re-cap of one of your shows…it was borne of your Game of Thrones re-caps. What do you think??? We’ve already been cracking ourselves up practicing and can’t wait to send you a copy of our first attempt😉
Much love and thanks for the laughs and the zzz’s❤
Thanks!!
Thanks sounds amazing and so fun!!! Can’t wait to hear it!
Dearest Scooter,
I found your podcast when a friend recommended it to me. If I am having a bad insomnia night, it’s one of the few things that works. Thanks for creating a nice space where everything will be okay.
Happy to help!!!
Hey Scooter,
My daughter told me about your podcast over her Christmas break – she is a college student in Pittsburgh and knows that I am a terrible sleeper. She listens when she is stressed and thought it would help. She learned about the podcast from friends. The first episode I listened to was something about a market at Christmas time. Ms. Havisham was there, I kept trying to remember the name of the boy that lived with her. Once you told me his name was Pip, yes thank God – PIP, I fell asleep. I told my daughter the Pip story and she said “You are not supposed to listen to the story!” (Duh implied.)
The next episodes I chose I tried not to listen to and it worked. But then I picked your recent Invisible Friend episode. And last night Woods of My Youth. I ended up listening again…I grew up in Syracuse, actually Solvay. Really, really too weird. Did you ever think a person form Solvay would hear this? I keep trying to figure out who Mrs.Otis with the white house with the black trim is.
Thank you for helping me sleep and making me think about growing up in Solvay.
Thanks! Yeah!!I love Solvay, Bowling, the Fair, Eva’s European Sweets!
Such a small world. Mrs’ Otis was my neighbor…I grew up near Velasko and Onondaga Blvd!
Hi Scotter,
I just want you to know I listen to you every night. I wish I could say you are funny, entertaining, or inspiring… but to be honest, I don’t even know what you say after the ads.
That’s how effective you are! I’m a career blogger and was hoping to write an article on your Podcast as you’ve helped me have peaceful sleep before a very stressful/anxiety-filled day ahead. I would love to ask you a few Q&As… let me know if this is something you’d be interested in!
I might still be groggy from my deep sleep. I of course meant Scooter. 🙂
Thanks! For sure just email me dearestscooter at gmail!
Long overdue…. well, since last October. Found your show accidently while searching for ambient noise which is a must when I sleep. Anyway, I was curious and perhaps a bit skeptical but decided to just go with it. It worked well and I became a patron, so thank you, Dearest Scooter. You are serene and witty, disengaging yet interesting. As I relax and just slip down the stream, merrily, merrily…
A long overdue and sincere Thank You!
ps- just ordered the Bluetooth SleepPhones with your code, looking forward to cutting the cord 🙂
Thanks so much for supporting the show and for taking the time to reach out!!!!
Thank you so much for doing this. I wish I could say how much I enjoy your stories, but I always end up sleeping so well that I can’t remember what they were about in the first place!
That is a great sign you are sleeping! Thanks!
Hi Scooter, just wanted to let you know that what you can do is nothing short of a miracle for some of us insomniacs, and I can’t thank you enough. Keep up the great work, you are not unappreciated. 💛
Just became a patron. Thanks so much for being my borefriend. Wish I could say I make it into your boring, droning stories, but I usually don’t make it much past your intros. Haha. I have recommended you to everyone I know with sleep issues. Hope they become patrons too. Keep it up!
Thanks so much!!!
I listen on a Lenovo tablet (with sleepphones!). What podcast app/platform do you recommend? I love, love the show. I even recommended it to my brother, who tends to be skeptical of EVERYTHING and he’s a fan now, too!!
I’m not sure…does that tablet run windows or android?
You could also ask at the listener facebook group at http://www.sleepwithmepodcast.com/nods
Thanks!
I went to use the amazon link to buy my textbooks, but the page is down…I’m so sorry! I would have loved to help. If it goes back up, let me know at [email protected].
Thanks! our website has been down. Sorry we missed it…Thanks for trying!
Also You should have a Bernie the butterfly episode. He should debate people using real Christmas trees. You should debate why we should!
👋 Hi my name is Hayden. I live in KY and listen to your podcast every night. I am 12 years old and have bad insomnia. Mostly because I stress about going to school on Mondays or any day. I hardly know you, actually I don’t know you, but I feel like I do. Recently I have been going through some hard times. I am completely deaf in one ear, and over the summer I busted the outher. This has caused increased stress about, if I will make it through the day? Or not. The accident caused constant ringing, dizziness, and headache. And stress caused me to have Migrains.(so I frequently have migraines) anyway all this caused me to stop sleeping. I went for 1 week with out falling asleep. And then on sleepless night I was dreading going to bed. So I looked around at some podcast to listen to. The first episode I listened to was the Pokémon go cross over. I felt like we had been friends all my life, and that I could trust you. And I felt safe! I thought I was never going to sleep agin, however within 40 minutes I was asleep. I woke up that morning like a new man. Listing to your Podcast helps me be a little less stressed, and a lot more rested. Thank you drew, scooter, and Antonio banderis. (Him along with action voice are my two favorite voices you do)
P.S Can you mention me in the show and saw you got my E-mail? Thanks
Drew,
I discovered your podcast two weeks ago and absolutely love them. I still haven’t been able to stay awake through an entire episode.
I don’t know where you find the time, energy, or the inspiration for your crazy stories, but you have a magical gift. I’d go so far to say that you are a national treasure.
Thank you for your positive impact on our lives.
My husband and I just started listening to your podcast about a month ago. Sometimes I have trouble shutting off my brain’s racing thoughts at night, even when exhausted, and out of desperation flipped through Spotify until I found your podcast. Not only does it help ME sleep, but it also helps him, too! We’re both getting much more restful nights thanks to your podcast. We’ll make sure to put a little money aside around Christmas time to support this program. It’s absolutely invaluable. =) Much thanks for the bedtime stories!
Please please please come back…..Your podcast is enjoyed 14000 miles away in Shanghai China. Hope you decide to return
Your podcast is a life saver. I don’t know how it works or why but I have gotten many hours sleep through a very rough period of my life thanks to you and your podcast.
Thank you.
Hello Scooter, I just wanted to let you know how much I love your Podcast. You’re a true genius with genuine soul. Thank you so much.
Hi Scoots – I found you through a random Facebook message that just popped up on my page. That’s worth saving, I thought, and promptly forgot all about you. A couple of days later I was talking with a friend about sleep difficulties and I remembered you!
I sleep so much better now, I don’t need alcohol to knock me out any more, and apart from changing position, I sleep well all night. Even better, I’d stopped dreaming but now I have fantastic, vivid and often silly dreams which are great fun. Many, many thanks!
Hi Scoots — your podcast has been putting me to sleep ever since I learned about it in the “Insomnia Machine” NYT article. Finally something that works! And even when I had really bad jet lag. You have a wonderful gift and thank you for sharing with us.
You have performed a miracle, my dearest Scooter. Since I was a little girl (in the early sixties) I have had trouble getting to sleep. Can you imagine an eight year old with bags under her eyes? Maybe you can. I’ve done every blessed thing I could think of to fix my insomnia (medications, exercising myself to exhaustion, practicing good sleep hygiene–whatever the heck that means). A couple of months ago I came across your podcast and have been nodding off quite well, often with a smile on my face as a result of your silly stories and quirky bon mots. (I typed bon most, but fixed it!) You’re a special soul, dear Scoots. Thank you so much.
I legitimately did not know if there was actually a story for the first several episodes I caught, because I’d fall asleep during the intro. Now I can muse along nicely until almost the end… I actually go to bed early now, just to catch as much of the podcast as I can before that moon rhythm kicks in. Many thanks, borefriend. PS: Greetings from Canada. Everyone is a little sleepier up here.
Thanks! My best bores I send up North!
A love note for my dearest Scooter! Proud patron here, writing to thank you for your kind help over the past several months. I usually wake up in the middle of the night and I just reach over, pop my sleep ears on, and spend some quality time with you. I always start at the beginning of Sleep With Me, since a chortle is a lovely thing to experience before drifting off again (and so far my husband hasn’t complained). One episode in particular stands out for me: Le Miz. It was incredibly comforting to me. I’m trudging through a minor diagnosis of a major disease (that starts with the word Fuck) and I’m carrying your curl bounce trick with me. Thank you for your gift.
I’m glad I can provdie chortles (great word, thanks!) during this tough time! Bring the curl bounce whereever you need to.
My doc deals with patient sleep issues a lot so I sang your praises and she took note of the podcast’s name. Sometimes patients have to get weaned off meds and I told her you were better than Ativan.
Thanks!
Thank you, so many thank yous go out to you Scooter and everyone that is involved with this podcast. This has been a lifesaver for me. I lost my younger sister to ovarian cancer last August and my mother 2 months later from breast cancer. I was extremely close with both of them. I was a caretaker and lived with them. I’m now on my own for the first time. This has been the hardest year of my life and with it came insomnia, anxiety and depression. Sleep was non existent for me. I’m a fan of My favorite Murder and Georgia mentioned your podcast and all that it has done for her so I thought I would give it a try. I have never felt as put at ease as I’ve been with this podcast. I’ve listened to this every night for a few months and rarely even make it to the actual bedtime story. Your wonderful meanders make you the best “borefriend” a girl can have. I cannot thank you guys enough and will continue to support this podcast as long as you wonderful people continue to do it.
P.S. I don’t think I’ll ever be able to look at kebabs and not think of this podcast ever again!
Honored to know the podcast can help during this difficult time. Thank you for sharing, it means a lot to me! Sleep Well.
WOW! You are like a breath of fresh air. What a fantastic find. I suffer from terrible insomnia and anxiety at times of stress and you have saved me. I don’t know what magic formula it is you have tucked away there but I can only usually manage 4/5 minutes of your fantastic, gravely voice cutting through the deep dark night and i am away. Not only that, but since i have been curled up with your podcast every night this passed week i have had the most fabulous, happy and vivid dreams. I wake up feeling so well rested. Thank you so much.
Awesome! Happy you are getting some rest and good dreams. Thanks for listening! How did you hear about the podcast?
The name of the podcast reminds me of this weird anime movie about sleeping with hinoko or something
But hey the podcast works so thanks
I’ll have to check that out! Thanks for listening! Glad it works…how did you hear about the podcast?
Hey Scoots/Drew!
Thank you so much for being my “borefriend” when I really need one. As someone who has anxiety at night, it’s always nice to tuck into bed and have a safe space to fall asleep to. Also, I really liked your podcast on your hobby of door knocks!
Thank you again!
Thanks so much!!! Happy to be there! Another knock related episode is coming in a few weeks!!!
Hey Scooter! I want to thank you for helping me fall asleep and get a good nights rest for the first time in a long time! Your Podcast has literally changed my life – I am now more energetic, yet focused, during the day due to my ability to go to sleep at night! I was hooked after the first night I listened, and have been telling my friends and family about it! In fact, my sister (who is a marriage and family therapist) is even suggesting it to her clients that have a hard time falling asleep. I was able to donate some money to you via Venmo; I wish I could afford more, but I figure every penny counts! Thank you so much for helping not only me, but this environment you have created to help change so many people’s lives!!
Thanks so much!!!! Happy to help. Thank your sister as well!!!!
I’ve been listening to you all week and I have no idea what you’ve been saying. This is working really well for me thank you very much!
Thanks…I’m glad you don’t need to listen to hear…or hear to listen…or whatever…happy you are sleeping!
Hey Scooter, I wanted to let you know that you’re also helping people fall asleep in The Netherlands, where my girlfriend and I are from. We discovered your podcast from a post on the insomnia board on Reddit, right after watching some good old Star Trek TNG. We thought it was a cool coincidence that your Nuns In Space episodes have all these references. It made it even more comfortable to listen to; we feel right at home in that relaxing space atmosphere. We really appreciate your creativity and understanding of the insomniac mind. The small comedic factor here and there helps to put our minds off negative things even further. What’s also interesting for me is that I liked to do the same type of thing as a kid sometimes: make up stories that seem completely non-sensical but the connections I made were never completely random and the associations seemed to flow naturally. Oh yeah, I like your name btw so I enjoy hearing it when you hold dialogues. Many thanks for your efforts. You have a positive impact on many people’s lives. We’ll be sure to s share your work with friends and family in Norway, Iceland and Belgium.
Thanks and I send my greetings to you in the Netherlands! I will be covering Star Trek TNG in early 2017 on Sundays!!! Do you have any favorite episodes?
Dearest Scooter,
You outdid yourself with “The Lost Village.” I kept putting that episode back on because it did put me to sleep, and I wanted to hear the end of the story. It wasn’t silly; it was real art. Thanks!
Thanks Janet…it was really inspiring music!
Hey Scooter, last night I was listening to your podcast, and fell asleep. Then I had a dream and saw you sitting on a bench and you were still talking, I guess because the podcast was still running on my headphones.
I went up to you and you did you introduction and then continued talking about seemingly nonsense. I was like “Yes, I know who you are.. I’m getting sleepy from just hearing you talk here!” (I was thinking “Cool!, I’m randomly meeting this podcaster!” – not knowing it was a dream…) Stupid dream brain…
Hahaha! I’m just recently having more vivid dreams…the last year or so I have not been remembering them but now I am again…gotta love (most) dreams.
I read about your podcast in an article, “The Insomnia Machine,” written by Pagan Kennedy that appeared in The New York Times. I can’t wait to try it tonight! The “Nuns in Space” series intrigues me, but I can seem to find episode #1…
Here’s the first one..http://www.sleepwithmepodcast.com/425/
Episode 425 if you are using a podcatcher like iTunes.
Thanks for checking the show out.
Hi Scooter, just wanted you to know I am currently tapering off 2 medications and 3 supplements (for sleep) since listening to your podcast. I guess my brain is one hard thing to put to rest. You are the bomb. Keep it up! I am sending you a donation to your PO Box…hope you get it!
Dearest Scooter,
I’ve tweeted you about how great your podcast is, but thought I’d come on the ol’ website and say my piece as well. (You know, for people who aren’t on Twitter – they need to hear the word, too, right?) Bedtime has always been a very anxiety-inducing time for me. I hate it because I just lay there and don’t sleep and get all stressed out because I’m not sleeping. I heard about your podcast on the My Favorite Murder podcast (Georgia Hardstark recommended it) and I thought I’d try it out. I’m hooked. It really helps me look forward to going to bed, AND I end up falling asleep. That’s a big deal for me. My husband has even mentioned that he’s noticed me laughing in my sleep. Awesome, right? Haha. Love you, dude.
THANK YOU
I am new to the show and really enjoying it – it definitely helps me fall asleep, excepting the odd laugh here and there 🙂 I also enjoy listening to the show just for background entertainment, it’s really funny and creative.
Oh and I just bought a chainsaw and associated paraphernalia through the Amazon link here – that seemed suitably obtuse 🙂
Thank you so much ‘Scoots’ !
Found your podcast recently, as I am having anxiety-related issues with sleeping. I was prescribed valium in order to help knock me out but I hate the idea of relying on it so I hardly take it. Your podcast has helped me SO much it is insane. I never did as well with listening to typical meditations or relaxation music, but your podcast is perfect in being able to take my mind off things. I am so grateful, thank you!
I absolutely love your Podcasts! Sometimes you are so entertaining I hate to fall asleep. Thank you so much for your investment in my/our sleep.
After going off Ambien (20 years), I found your podcasts were the only thing that put me to sleep! That is a miracle!
Much success to you Scooter!
Thank you, man. The show is such a help to me. I don’t have much to say, just…you know, I have trouble sleeping, and you are helping. Again, thank you.
Thanks for reaching out! You’ve said the perfect thing, thank you.
Hi Scoots. I’ve always had problems sleeping for some reason or another. But sleep with me has been a blessing! I’ve been getting more sleep than ever, and it’s all because of your meanderings and wonderings. Keep on doing what you do, Scoots! You do it wonderfully! 🙂
I’ve been using pain killers every night just to sleep for mouths. I have axienty and i was slowly developing a dependence on them But thanks to you, ive been having the best sleep of my life and quit using completely. Please don’t stop.
Happy to know it helps! Working hard to find a way to keep the show going.
Wow… You are a Word Salad Genius! And you know what? It actually WORKS! I listen in, with the volume way down in an earphone, sometimes thinking, “Huh? Candy Conspiracy?” And then drift off. This is amazing. I have routine insomnia and this helps so much. I’m going to donate for sure. Thank you!!!
Thanks Mike!
I’ve been listening to your podcast for a while now and I can’t go one night without listening to it! I have one particular memory of being half asleep and hearing you say “I really hope you’re asleep now cause this is really boring”. Now if that was real or in a dream of mine is yet to be unknown.
Greetings from Sweden!
Thanks so much!! I hope you are having a wonderful spring and start to summer….dreamlike!
Living with 3 noisy roomates, having the living room tv share a wall with my bedroom, and needing to get up @ 4 am for work for the past 2 years of college made for a miserable sleepy time experience… Then I found Scooter! I wouldn’t have survived my final semesters without these crazy, lulling podcasts. I can always count on them when my surroundings impede my ability to doze off. Many thanks 🙂
Glad I can help! Work and school is tough….happy to be of aid.
Hi man, i’ve been meaning to write you for a long time now. I suffer from periodic insomna (i totally made that term up just now) and depression (totally real) leaving me with some pretty nasty anxiety at night time. I was in a particulary dark place a couple of years ago when i found your podcast after putting the search term ‘sleep’ into my podcast app (hoping to find a podcast just like yours). You helped me greatly to fall asleep back then, life turned around and i was finally out of the Woods. I wanted to thank you for your podcast but never got around to it. But now im back in that dark, dark forest, in need of your help again and lo and behold, still going strong. How Happy that made me 🙂 We dont know each other, but listening to the podcast again truly felt like meeting an old beloved friend again, how you manage to put all this content out is beyond me, but im glad you are. Anyway, just wanted you to know you’re really making a difference for some of us out there. So thank you.
Welcome back old friend!!! I’ve been in and out of those woods too. Thanks for sharing, it is a huge gift to me.
Drew, I have periodic stressed induced insomnia. When it happens it induces fear that it will negatively effect my work as I have a demanding job and in turn induces more stress, Ambien and other aids have had mixed to no success. Your podcast is the only thing that works to put me into a peaceful slumber. I don’t think I would be exaggerating to say you may be saving lives. Thank you for your profound service.
Thank you…I’m glad the podcast can help you get some distance from work stress, I hope the rest can also make your life a little bit more pleasant.
It really is an honor to help…when I’m it really disrupts my sleep too.
Thanks for taking the time to share, it helps frame the mission of the podcast for me when I get stress from overthinking about things outside of my control.
Sleep Well!
Dearest Scoots,
Have James Cash Penney and Mr. Sears, Mr. Besos, ever considered getting Mr. Montgomery Ward out of purgatory? Or is he just going to stay there forever due to his lack of business prowess? Or is he even there? Maybe I just think he is living there due to the fact I used to own one of his washing machines. I guess I’m just a bit worried about his demise. Seemed like he just faded away with his catalog one day.
Yours truly,
CoffeeGrounded
I think he is with the people from Macy’s and Gimbles, and maybe even Santa.
Found this podcast a few nights ago and I’ve listened every night since. Nothing gets me to sleep better than this, I have already suggested to multiple friends that I know have troubles sleeping. I always fall asleep before the story even starts. I love this podcast.
Thanks for spreading the word…that is a great help!
It took me a time or two before I really could relax while listening to this podcast. It was awkward listening to something at first and my sleep anxiety and negative racing thoughts seemed impossible to overcome. I’m glad I stuck with it, though, and I’m now a nightly listener. I don’t know what I’d do with out it. I love Game of Drones and Metastasis.
Thanks for sticking with it…happy to hear it is working for you!
Hey Scooter
Thanks so much for putting out this podcast for all us insomniacs out there. It’s definitely been helping me!
Just one thought, I’m newish to this podcast so I’m sure this has come up before, but I wanted to mention that the “lullabies” (I think they’re by someone else, inserted into the podcast) often wake me up immediately, which is a drag as I’ve often just fallen asleep. Have you heard this before from other listeners? Have you ever considered omitting them?
Game of Drones is my new favorite! I got hooked a few months ago during the “Serial Season One as told by Tommen & Ser Pounce” episode and the napcasts episodes define a new genre as sleep entertainment. Would you consider ever releasing the Tommen & Ser Pounce episodes/napcasts as a massive episode, like you did with season one and two of Game of Drones? I would love that! Thanks for all your hard work, I hope you continue with Game of Drones, Sleep with Me, Sleep to Strange, and whatever other endeavours you might come up with.
Yeah I’m planning on doing that for sure with Tom6men and Pounce…prob after Season 6…
I just started listening to your podcasts. I wish you would stop mentioning so many times that you are going to help put us to sleep or the reasons we might not be able to sleep. We know what your podcast is for. JUST START YOUR STORY AT THE BEGINNING OF YOUR PODCAST. It totally irritates me that you repeat the purpose of your podcast. WE KNOW ALREADY.
Thanks for the feedback. I understand your frustration and I have a solution-
You could check out “Sleep to Strange” which is a version of the podcast without intros. It is on iTunes and most podcasting apps.
The intros and long and somewhat repetitive because some listners enjoy that and the familiarty helps them ease into sleep during the intro. In some sense the intro is its own “show”. I created sleep to strange and put the timestamps of the story start points in the show notes for people who understanably would rather skip the intros.
Thanks for listening!
I like the intros 🙂 so boring I’m often asleep before I even get to the story…
Thanks! The intros are really a show in and of themselves and put a decent number of people to sleep!
Dearest Scooter,
I was telling my insurance company that I was having problems sleeping. My counselor told me about your podcast. Since then, I have not had any problems getting to sleep. Thank you so much for all you do for us! You are such a sweetheart!!!
Thank you! Happy to help!
Thank you for your work. I’ve been having sleep problems for a long time. Podcasts have helped, but yours are the best I’ve come across.
Loved the Disney Vacation episode.
Thanks Mate,
Beaye (London UK)
Thanks you! Glad you enjoyed Ray’s trip.
Dearest Scooter:
I cannot say thank you enough times to express my appreciation for the tireless and enormous effort you put in to your podcast. It is selfless, and has obviously helped so many. You are hilarious, endearing and extremely talented. I hope you are getting the support you need in order that you may continue doing what you are so good at. Please take care of yourself, you are loved.
Dearest Scooter–Just discovered you a couple of weeks ago and have listened to everything I could get my hands on. It worked every night but tonight. My husband kicked me out of bed when I kept snickering every time you said “nub”…then when you dropped the “Horseshoe Crab Nub” he kicked me out of bed because I started snort laughing. I’ll be heading to Patreon in the morning and kicking some cash your way. Horseshoe Crab Nub” was worth every penny!
I’m glad to know my skull can keep you laughing!!! One day nubs will be the height of fashion.
I agree with the comment above that this podcast is genius how it manages to be interesting enough to listen to but not interesting enough to stay awake to. So happy this exists, and how fascinating that so many suffer from insomnia out there reading through these comments.
I put the podcast on one afternoon last week when my pre-teen sons were being hyper, hoping to subconsciously calm them down a tad. After about 15 minutes they finally noticed and said “What IS this?!” Haha. Now I sometimes listen to the podcast while wide awake because it makes me chuckle.
I was googling for interviews about the host of the show today because I am very curious to know whether you are boring in real life, or if you work as a hypnotist.
Are you Will Y from Youtube?
No…don’t now about Will are you a fan?
Love the podcast. Better than any sleep drug for me. I’m enjoying the new Get Bezos episodes with James and Richard. I listened to “a case for sin” 3 times because i kept falling asleep (that’s high praise for this show). I don’t know how you do it, but your stuff is interesting so that I want to listen to it, but not too interesting that it keeps me from drifting off. One question. What’s with the intermingled spanish in some episodes? I find it distracting and hard to focus on because I’m always thinking “what’s that word he said”. Great if I wanted to focus on learning Spanish, but in this case not so great for sleeping.
Love your podcast! It is pure genius! The pleas for Trader Joe’s and other musical ditties are wonderful, as well! Y’all are so talented…
I’m curious to know whether you read a script or just riff. Either way, it is marvelous. Puts me right to sleep well before the 30 minutes I set for it on my iPhone.
Just read the interview you did at: http://www.psychedinsanfrancisco.com/sleep-with-me-podcast/
And also here: http://motherboard.vice.com/read/the-podcast-that-wants-to-bore-you-to-sleep
Drew, you have a very pleasant speaking voice, totally different from your podcast voice. I want to see you succeed, and so I am going to definitely support “The Podcast That Puts [Me] to Sleep.”
Thank you for helping me to sleep. You’re better than any pill!!
P.S. Like others, I found your podcast when looking for a guided meditation. Your efforts are sooo much better!!!
Hi, I heard about your podcast from Gimlet’s “Sampler” podcast. I have suggestions for topics that don’t seem boring, but could be droned on about (in case you haven’t already done them). One would be for Scooter to give commentary for a rocket launch that got scrubbed (for weather, fouled Range, or technical issue), going through the countdown, talking about what engines were turned on, what problems happened and engineers solved, etc. Mixture of checklist and technical problem solving.
Additional topic could be to take an interplanetary trajectory over years and go through each place it goes by and when the spacecraft has burns (trajectory correction maneuvers). Interesting topic, but droning could easily be done.
Dearest Scooter,
Thank you so much for your wonderful podcast; it keeps me from negative rumination and I have found that I wake up in a much better frame of mind each morning because I was (happily) distracted and relaxed when I fell asleep. Some of my favorite episodes: “Protector of Oakland’s Stonefruit”, “A Guided Meditation into the Snowy Woods”, and lately, I’m really enjoying “Get Besos”.
I just wanted to thank you. I’ve been listening for about a week now and I don’t need my prescription sleep aid anymore. So thank you from the bottom of my heart for helping eliminate one of the drugs I take.
Hi Scooter. Habari gani from Kenya. I’ve never been a good sleeper. I have trouble falling asleep and I keep waking up in the night and then I wake early (5 or 5:30 am) and can’t get back to sleep. I’ve been listening to your podcasts for several months and I almost never need any medicinal help. Thank you! You are one of a kind! Asante sana!
Listened to last Thursday’s podcast and thought I’d give you some feedback. It was not as easy to fall asleep because your voice was a little higher and speed of speech a little faster. I tried messing around with my “playback speed”, but that didn’t work. Your lower, droning voice is the best for me. It is magic. Thanks. 🙂
Hi, Scooter. Your podcast has a real Bob & Ray vibe. High praise, indeed! Pls. drop me a line if you’re open to doing a quick interview. (I’m a freelance writer.) Long live the drone. Cheers, B
Obsessed! Loving your podcast so much, that when I wake up I need to re-listen when I have my run. I don’t want to miss anything. I’m a long time insomniac and you’ve become my favourite way to fall asleep xx
I was searching for a Podcast to help me sleep (something with chamber music or hypnosis….) I came across this delightful and effective podcast. I typically would listen to cartoons or some other ‘noise’ that didn’t make me think… this podcast is life saving !!! I have been telling anyone who mentions their sleep troubles that it’s imperative they use this one. You are a genius – for all I know the rest of the podcast is empty air because I can never seem to get past the first 10 mins without falling asleep. I listened last night and wanted to let you know that I downloaded the free trial of Amazon Audible – Thanks.
I stumbled on your podcast when I was looking up guided meditations apps because I generally fall asleep when I listen to those and they help quiet my mind. When I read about your show something instantly said YES in my mind and I put on the first one and was immediately hooked. They remind me of when I was a teenager and my best friend and I would smoke weed late at night when I would stay over at her grandma’s house. She would get really talkative after smoking whereas I would get mellow and I would lie in my twin bed cozily listening as she would talk in hers about really random things like different guys she had dated and which motorcycles they liked and her grandma’s landlord who was Filipino and his kids’ names which were all from the Bible, but really odd bible names not common ones like Matthew and Luke. I would be gently lulled to sleep by her musings which didn’t demand any answers, although unlike you, now and then she would say “are you awake? are you listening to me?” and I would have to pull myself from my warm cozy bear den of dozing and say “yeah….I’m listening…” after which she would continue for another while. That was the best fix ever for racing thoughts keeping you awake and although I’m old and gainfully employed now and no longer smoke weed or stay over at other people’s houses, I have now found the next best thing and I can’t wait to have you add that tip jar so I can give you tips for especially good intros and stories and other ramblings.
Thanks again dearest Scooter.
Love,
Kim
Oh how I love having Scooter as my borefriend! I have one tiny problem though…at first, I fell very quickly to sleep and life was good! Now that I have come to love the Scootman’s sense of humor, I can’t go to sleep because I am hanging on for every word, slur and stutter for the entertainment value.
Thank you for the articles and other helpful sleep hints that I can use instead. Now I have to listen to Sleepwithme and Sleeptostrange during the day when the last thing I want to do is sleep!! Smooches, thanks for everything!!
Thank you so much for your podcast.
I hadn’t slept well ( about two hours a night) for over a year.
Being a single mother of 4 chillderen you can only imagine that I was really desperate. En then you came along. You probably saved my life. I can’t begin to express how thankfull I am.
Now when I cuddle up in bed, even with my toddler next to me, I drift off to dreamland.
Yours sincerly Bianca from the Netherlands
I love your voice and your ramblings and your like-ability. I dared to look up your picture and you look like a nice person, too. The experience for me is as if I had a good friend I could always count on to come over and just hang out but is a rambler type of person. So, I like to have him there and like to talk, but don’t feel like contributing to the conversation because I’m too tired, but with your podcast, I know its okay if I fall asleep and just tune in or out as I feel like. I love when you say that all I have to do is get in bed and turn out the lights and the rest I should leave up to you. Your podcast is like having a really nice, loyal friend who is sort of boring but with a sense of humor and weirdness that makes the boredom light and pleasant. I love it. Good job! I also want to say that I supported a website that is similar to yours (not same service though) and they offered an opportunity for listeners to donate on a regular basis through a paypal subscription. So, I donated $1.99 each month for several years and because they had so many listeners, I believe they became self-sustaining. If you continued to make new podcasts (as I think you do now, anyway), I would be willing to do that. It also can totally be a voluntary thing. Someone who doesn’t subscribe would not get something less ( I think that’s the way the other website did it). It was mostly a request to donate so you can continue to provide the podcasts, etc. Anyway, just thought I’d pass along my thoughts. Thank you again and I look forward to hearing you again at bedtime. 🙂
Drew, this podcast made my 2015 so much better and I thank you. Still listening and loving it and zzzzzzzzz. 🙂
I love this podcast! I live in a dorm room with three other people and being in college they stay out late and be loud when they come home but I have to get up at 5:15 every morning. So I just pop in my headphones and listen just about every night, it puts me to sleep no problem! 10/10
Dearest Scooter,
When I listen I feel a clairvoyant feeling from you like a big brother who has been through similar stuff. I just found that you are in Alameda(I think) and that makes me feel like you might identify with the small and sometimes claustrophobic culture here.
Sometimes when I am looking through podcasts, the only thing I really wanna listen to is scoot. I don’t even get mad when scooter is promoting something like I do when other podcasts do advertisements. I used to fall asleep listening to a podcast I wanted to pay attention too, thus triggering a type of “over-thinking rigmarole.” I would always be split between trying to listen or not.
When I meet people that use their passive meanness to engage my brainbots, I worry about whether I fit in or something like that. But scoot would understand, and that is worth so much. I feel very strongly about silliness in general, but sleep with me is a rather endearing type of silliness with such good intent wrapped into it. You can’t help but think that scooter is probably a sweet guy.
Hello Dearest Scooter!
I hope you see this comment and have time to read and reply. I want to start off with the fact that I’m a student, and I love your Podcast. You say sometimes that you were a student and had many sleep issues, and I think that you actually said that you’d wish something like what you offer was around when you were a student. With all of the papers that are due and homework that I may or may not have missed. You really help me out, and I want you to know you are truly changing my life.
I want you to tell me something, though. I don’t like the episodes where you have a series (e.g. Metastasnooze, Lady Witch Beard, Game of Drones, Roberta Clause) because I never stay awake for the whole previous Podcast. Therefore, I can’t follow along with the story that is being told, and I don’t fall asleep. Can you defend the ones that are in series (that’s plural, apparently)?
I also have some recommendations, follow them if you’d like, I understand I’m not the only one who listens to the Podcast. Please stick to happy subjects in your intro anecdotes, I remember one where you talked about your dog, I think that was second in the Roberta Clause series, and it put a smile on my face, and made me feel more a ease. Similarly, can you please not talk about – or reference – stressful things in your intro (e.g. work). Also – and you’ve been doing this lately – always remind people at the beginning to set their sleep timers. Additionally, can you please remove the background sound in on-location Podcasts? I remember listening to the one where you went to a Christmas Fair and there was music and people talking which made me anxious – but not anxious enough make me turn the Podcast – which ended up making me stay up all night because the Podcast didn’t work and the sleep-train already left the station by the end of the Podcast. Lastly, and most importantly, can you make more where your jumping around and making soft voices. Not like Kiwi Shavers, but more like Nana. I remember my first Podcast that I listened to – Nana, Nunu, Yoda, and the Flu. That one was great because the story and the voices. The story jumped around a lot, which really works for me. If you read this far, comment Nana, Nunu, Yoda and the Flu in addition to your response, if you leave one for me. 🙂
Thanks,
Joe
(Postscript: I have to get to bed, so I didn’t have time to proof-read this. Have a good Holiday!)
Dearest Sleep With Me Team,
Thanks for using your powers for good in the world. Your podcast stops the Brainbots from beating me up every night. You are my favorite Superheroes.
—————————————————————————————————————————
My itunes review:
You are physically exhausted and ready to hit the sack. You do all the right things : no screens, thermostat lowered, black out shades, hot bath, magnesium, soft yet supportive mattress, set your intention, meditate, even sniff a little lavender. You are ready to hit the hay.
So you go to bed and your mind won’t turn off. Or you go right to sleep and wake up a few hours later. And. It. Will. Not Shut. Up. You feel the adrenaline kick in and your cortisol start to rise. Forget it. No sleep for you.
What’s worse than being awake when your body desperately needs sleep? Being awake AND not being able to turn off your thoughts. It’s feeling powerless while some sadist talks about your failures, relentlessly bullying you OR some chatty voice telling you not to forget to do things that seem so major at 2am and so stupid at 10am. So you end up exhausted. Completely demoralized. Extremely anxious.
Scooter is like meditation without having to practice for hours. He gives your brain something to do instead of stringing together words that make you crazy. Prior to SWM once I was awake – I was really up. Now I can listen and go right back to sleep anytime.
I thought Invisibilia would be my favorite podcast of all time. But Sleep With Me transcends favoritism – it has been a life changer for me. And I’ve only been sleeping with Scooter for two weeks! Go ahead – download a few. It IS weird and makes no sense if you are fully awake. But at 3am that voice and those stories are perfection.
PS. Also want to hear more about your dog. Mark
Love your work Scooter. Had to travel today and grabbing some snoozes with your help was just what I needed. Thanks so much and keep it up please. Mark in Ireland.
Last night my husband was about to pull the trigger on an Amazon purchase. Before he did, I yelled, ‘WAIT! WAIT! WAIT! Did you use Scooter’s Amazon link?” He was kind enough to back out and start over via your site. Whew. Disaster averted.
Just wanted you to know, I finally used the Amazon link!
And now, if you’ll excuse me, I’m going to listen to a podcast so I can go to sleep fast….and in a good mood!!! No tossing, turning, mind racing……..
Thank you Scooter
YOU THA BOMB-DIGGITY BOOMBASTIC BEST THING TO *ever* HAPPEN TO MY BEDROOM LIFE
In one night, you helped correct years of insomnia.
YOU’RE SO GOOD, AFTER TWO WEEKS I DIDN’T EVEN HAVE TO LISTEN TO YOU ANYMORE!!
Scooter you’re the flip side of the boogie monster, you even put the boogie monster to sleep!
I WISH THERE WAS A DAMN DONATION BUTTON SOMEWHERE MORE OBVIOUS
But I’m about to drop a few hundred on your amazon link!
THANK YOU SCOOTER!
PS….Are YOU able to sleep ok????
THANK YOU. THANK YOU. THANK YOU. THANK YOU. THANK YOU. THANK YOU.
A friend told me about this podcast. I was dubious. I put it on. Within 10-15 minutes, I was drifting away into sleep, slow submerging….and I just burst out hysterically laughing because it really was working! And then, exhausted by this laughter, I plunged deep into sleep….next thing I know….it’s morning.
Often I wake up at around 3:00. I LUNGE for the play button, and now I can right back to sleep pretty quickly. And if I don’t? (which has never happened) Well, then I can listen!
I have never once gotten to the “story”. I barely make it past the intro. What a generous soul you are, THANK YOU!
Hello, just began listening to your podcast a couple weeks ago. Doesn’t work 100% of the time, partially because my insomnia is semi-self-invoked. I have had trouble making the decision to go to sleep since I can remember. An 8 year old who stays up till 4am reading The Babysitters Club series…but once I do get to sleep it is terribly hard to wake up. I’ve also had some astoundingly bad nightmares, almost, and sometimes, to the point of night terrors. The other reason is because sometimes I am entertained by your stories and your tone of voice enough that I want to keep listening. Other thoughts too but I don’t want to put you to sleep:) Basically thank you for doing this, it has helped me sleep better than I thought it would. Used to listen to Hary Potter books on CD, but after listening to seven books about 40 times through, it gets old…. Great job!!!
Would you consider a live taping in Alameda?
Are you in Alameda?!?
I’m trying to figure out how to get my feet wet doing some live stuff. I have an “odd” idea of instead of doing a live show to do something where…in a gallery or something like that. In conjunction with other artists or the gallery but they would just have bean bags and stuff can if people wanted to sit down and chill and sleep I would be there doing the dullz…. while other people were walking around just looking at art and wondering what the hell is this?
or something…I’m still trying to figure it out.
What made you ask? Do you have any ideas for me?
I could do a stealth bore attack on an open mic night but I’m not sure I have the courage.
this, is a great idea
this is a great idea.
ok so, my brainstorm ideas for new episodes!
-boring 1001 arabian nights! you could read one story out of it for each episode but never really get to the point and be generally borring about it.
– space stories, it could be like a star trek type layout with one ship and a few main characters that go down to planets and wonder around for a while but nothing really happens, or go on diplomatic missions that are accurate and just filled with endless meetings. or disease could break out on ship but not dramatically and you could spend half an hour talking about weird symtoms that aren’t really relevant
hmmm ok ill stop here for tonight because i probably should be sleeping and I’ve found a way to distract myself even here
ok ok ok byeee
and a+++++ on the podcast btw
works every time
like magic
my biggest worry is my business. you help me not to take anything too seriously. I would love for you to explain how or how not to solve a rubix cube. could be good stuff.
xo Robin
Thanks Robin…great idea with the Rubix cube. I have the same problem with giving things way too much “weight” than they need, glad to hear the podcast helps.
You are an angel. The podcast came at just the right time. If I hadn’t gotten some sleep, it would have literally been the end of me.
Thank you.
Thanks Molly! You deserve a good nights’ sleep!
Very good podcast. It helps me a lot getting to sleep. Love all the voices and the themes. Very good deed you do for all of us insomniacs . Bless you.
Well I just put a review on itunes and wanted to find the main site here to voice my thanks for such a diamond of a find. I literally have found myself for about a year now suffering from Insomnia as well as a few other unfortunate diagnosis’s that keep me from sleeping on a nightly basis. I’m also a vet of 6 years in the Army with nearly 2 years spent overseas, and the point of me saying this is simply I’m very grateful for what you do for people like myself. Just wanted you to know that its appreciated with what you guys do there. Thank you so much.
Dearest Scooter,
Your vocal wanderings work where all else has failed. Thank you so much, Scooter! My favorite of your podcasts are the Real Time Recipes. I’ve listened to each many times now (for as long as I can maintain consciousness, anyway). 🙂 Please, please consider making more of those episodes. They’re perfect . . . from the the trip to Trader Joes, to the description of ingredients, to the comments during cooking . . . all of it.
Thank you, Best Borefriend Ever!
I just listened to one of your podcasts for the first time. I was having a really rough night and was very anxious prior to listening. I confess that I only I listened to about 30 minutes, was even more agitated that I hadn’t fallen asleep ,and then just skipped to the end.
But in the end you left a really important message. I really needed to hear that, and I think with that I can go to sleep. I feel much better.
That was my first podcast so I’m not sure if you give advice messages at the end of all your audios, but I’m really glad I selected the one with that specific message. It’s important to keep up hope. Just your ending message was enough to calm me down, and now I’m genuinely tired. Wow the comment box will show how late this is.
Anyway, I’m really interested in trying out more podcasts and seeing if I actually fall asleep with them on a night where I’m not so anxious. These audios are such a unique concept.
Thank you for making these podcasts. Good night~
actually where i am its 4:52 am. its not so late its 9 or anything like the time box says on the comment for some reason
Thank you Scooter! 😀 That was really cool.
G’night.
Hmmm. So are we allowed to write multiple reviews???
Anybody just trying this out. You can’t just listen to one episode and make your judgements. There’s a few distinct genres.
And you have to find your happy place. Or safe place, as Scooter calls it.
You’ll be a better person for it.
And the reason he says ‘errrr’ so many times, I feel. Is because he can make 3 sentences extend into, well, 10 or so haha.
It’s like life in slowwwwww motionnnnnnn.
And bam, you’re out.
like the proverbial blown light globe.
He’s your borefriend. Your borecuz. Your boresib.
And He’s safe. With good intentions.
Trust me. This sh*ts all over meditation and twatnot.
Thanks for the verse!
“Go ahead and think about that thought experiment. Go ahead and think about that thought experiment. Go ahead and think about that thought experiment.”
Hahahahaha.
Thanks for putting me to sleep, Dearest Scooter.
Thanks for putting me to sleep, Dearest Scooter.
Thanks for putting me to sleep, Dearest Scooter.
Goodnight. Goodnight. G.. ok. I’m done.
Ok. I’m done.
Ok.
I’m done.
I couldn’t get a review in since I don’t use itunes so I’ll letcha know here…. I love going to bed with @dearestscooter! He is such an amazing “borefriend” that he puts me to sleep almost immediately! 😉 Usually I watch history documentaries but this is so much better. There’s no loud commercials, change in tv lighting or extreme change in audio levels. If I didn’t have something like this I’d never get those “brain-bots” to sleep! I started with ‘After the Glass Slipper’ (which btw I liked the character voices) and am now going through the rest. I also enjoyed those few episodes with the Florida background bug chirps. (Hope all is well with the Podcaster’s family since a Fl visit was needed) Keep it up Scooter and make sure you do voice exercises/calming teas so you don’t lose it! XOXO, a sleep-friend. PS I recently got a super itchy case of poison ivy keeping me up and listening to you has even helped get my mind off how itchy I am!
Thanks Ali-Kat! Another use for the podcast as itch distraction!!!
Roland and the Letter-man send their love!
Loved Ray’s Adventures in Fairyland! Haven’t been there in 30+ years! Glad to hear it’s still there and doing well. And if only we were all such well adjusted, insightful observers as Ray. (I’m rooting for an Ask Ray advice show.)
It looks great there. They passed a few park bonds a few years back to put some nice upkeep into the park.
I’ll be sure to ask Ray. I got to goto the 4th of July parade with him. It might be a show next week?!?
As for this week my “Nana” will be on and she has her own speical form of adjustment, but when put it context it all us understandable.
Thanks Laurel!
nice try scoot. nice try gettin me to sleep with your podcast. any topics related to hair or perms or curls… just any hair related topic peeks my interest, makes my ears perk up.
oh well. laughing might be better for me today than sleeping!
those stuck story cards really brought out the best in you, man. loved it. keep doing your thing. no one does it better. i’m having to restrain myself from telling you how infinitely likeable you are.
Thanks! One day you can advise me if I decide to get a perm.
Are you local to the Bay Area?
Just saying hi. I appreciate you so much Scooter. Good night my friend.
Hope you slept well!!!
Like a baby kind sir. Like a baby.
I’m excited to finally get my shirt!!! Thanks man.
So, can I just say?… I have never had so many questions since I caught up on Game of Thrones today. I vegged out today and watched the last 6 episodes since this morning… What the heck!!! I’m so confused about all of the things in the finale!!! Well, crap… I don’t want to be a spoiler so I’m not going to be specific.
Anyway… I guess you can tell I haven’t read the books… Ok, now I’m blathering. I must get that from you. 🙂
Thanks my boring friend. My bore bro. My bore sib. Thanks for being boring.
Good night sir.
-DT
Yay, just ordered a t shirt, great fundraising idea especially since I was in the market for a new bedtime wardrobe piece….should go well with sweatpants! I’m a little sad “drones” is at an end, but looking forward to whatever your new summer project turns out to be. I just wanted to also add that I do really enjoy the real time cooking episodes and hope you might make a few more of those (consider one where you make a cake!) Thank you for your sleepy time service it is much appreciated!
Thanks for getting a shirt Corrie! I will try and keep stuff in the Drones feed for Sundays. It will be remixed stuff though.
Real time IKEA is next up when I can then a cake is a great idea.
Good to know, and hey, if you need help with the most excruciatingly boring details of cake making you can’t find me at CorrieCakes on FB
Hi, Scooter!
Really, REALLY good stuff on the podcasts lately! That “Sunday Drive” interlude at the start of the most recent one was great! (My husband and I, just out of the blue, actually TOOK a “Sunday drive” last Sunday! The old-fashioned kind, but minus the kids in the backseat!) 😛
Your mention of the “Benadryl” made me smile, as well, because my older son-in-law, who is probably close to you in age, once told me he used to dread family “drives” or (worse) family “road-trips”, so he would dose himself with Benadryl just he could sleep through it! So funny!
So often, I fall asleep soon after the intro on the podcast begins. Every now and then, I am awake awhile to listen further into the narrative. Also now and then, you add a personal note or two and I’m totally blown away.
I keep hearing things and thinking, “WOW! That is so SIMILAR to something I remember from my own experience! (I’m not just talking about the Sunday drives and the Benadryl there! LOL!)
It’s cool! I feel a kind of strange kinship with yourself and with the other podcast listeners (especially those who have joined the facebook SWM Podcast Community group over there…). It’s a unique “subset” of humanity, apparently–those of us who have insomnia for various reasons and who seem to be drawn to (and benefit from) the podcast you produce. As always, THANK YOU for all you do!
Just wanted you to know–I’m listening and it’s working!
Another thing… (Sorry, I tend to ramble when I write!)
The “Summer Sleeper Project”… I had to listen a couple of times to the episode where you talked about this before I could actually remember hearing it (listen and not fall asleep before getting to that part!) I THINK I understand what it’s about, but not totally clear just yet. I have an idea of what you mean, but maybe could use a bit of additional clarity.
Do we have to have a blog to participate?
I don’t blog; I’m socially phobic of blogs! Well, almost! I can write a ton of stuff, but, for me, it’s almost scarier than public speaking… And I’ve learned I can “public speak”, but I tried a blog once and now it’s lost in cyberspace–I don’t even remember the title of it or password for it! 🙁
But, if it’s a “project”–like the kind I know all too well–“Thought about doing it, but just never got around to doing (or finishing) it…” I have one in mind and this might just be the “kick in the butt” that I need to get it off and moving!
I asked Alexandra (the other group moderator -noderator), but she was like, “Oh, Scooter is still explaining it to me…” so I am still kind of wondering how it works. If it’s still in the “works”–that’s okay, too! TAKE YOUR TIME to explain it as you choose! (I am NOT a “time-fanatic” kind of person!) I am really excited about it and hope it all is something that people can “latch onto” and maybe feel good about! Yeah! “Spread around the GOOD this summer!” That’s kind of how I see it–spread around the “good” and “random acts of kindness” or “finish that great idea” or whatever!
Well, I better get going! I went to bed SUPER late last night (packing for an out-of-town trip–UGH!) I was so DEAD when my head hit the pillow that all I heard was “Hello… Welcome… this is SleepWithMe…” (etc) and it was OUT/GONE time! ZZZZZZ-ZZZZ-ZZZZZ!
Hope you have a great day and a good week! Hope you like all the teas and things! (Yes, it was a conspiracy!)
We (podcast people) CARE! <3
Peace and good wishes to you!
Laura B. (the "other" nodderator) 🙂
PS: I was wondering for the LONGEST time, "Where are all these people who 'write in' to Scooter and he tells about getting their messages–I've never seen them on the facebook site for SWMP!" Well, NOW know!
I finally found it–HERE! HAH! GOTCHA!!!! 😀
Dude, how can I tell you this politely? I’m only saying this because I adore you and want your new fans to find you… the correct spelling of Sticher is “Stitcher.”
Okay now I look like a jerk for being the spelling police. I get all the embarrassment so you don’t have to.
I do it out of love.
That was very polite! No need to feel like a jerk for attempting to keep me for looking like a fool! That’s what borefriends are for!
Now where the hell did I misspell it other than those images where, I think I’m stuck….but moving forward I now know! Thanks so much for taking the time to point that out and risking feeling like a jerk…which in this case you are not.
Whew.
Thank you. It’s often difficult to tell jerkitude when it comes to the written word.
The only place I saw the typo was in your images. That was the important place anyway as I assume you’ve got a template.
Podcast #231 Game of Drones “High Sparrow.” BEST. PRAYERS. EVER. I really enjoy hearing tales about you and your life. Makes me feel less like a weirdo and more like there are other kooky, awesome, creative people out there. Thanks for all your hard work!
Btw what’s your name!? You are the most boring person ive ever lsned to. Dont get me wrong its amazing how fast you make fall asleep. I used to listen to bloomberg radio to put myself to sleep until i stumpled upon your genius on TuneIn.
I wanna ask you though, I am so curious. Do you have a script? Are you just mumbling anything that comes to your mind? Is there anyone else in the room or you talk to yourself!?
Last and most important…. Dont you get bored of yourself, like seriously do you enjoy doing this? How?
Thank you very much
10/10 feedback
Must try
Thanks!!! I’m Scooter or Drew depending on the time of day, but most of the time I’m both.
Some episodes are made up on the spot, and others are outlined beforehand and could be a second or third “outline draft” with dialogue and action written out but in more bullet points vs. a tight script.
I’m alone in a tiny closet recording, but I have at least two people in my head at recording time in not more. I have also started “periscoping” some recordings for people to watch but I’m still getting used to that.
I do enjoy the show and it is also a lot of work…which is a good thing because it is never boring. Making something boring, for me at least, takes a ton of effort…OH the irony…I tend to be a somewhat boring person anyway so its not so much the bores that take the work but finding a way to create something that is dull enough that you are cool with falling asleep but engaging enough so that the rest of your brain will be distracted and shut up so you can fall asleep.
Thanks so much for the support!!!!
Freakinomics podcast asked their listeners to record themselves talking about what they do to fall asleep. I recorded my plethora of getting-sleepy tricks and submitted them! SWMP listeners should too!!!
My recordings are here: https://www.dropbox.com/sh/j8a8w308qo4ucou/AAABY6tNErq8MvZX9sybLwira?dl=0
Thank you Dearest Scooter!!! gnight…..
Thanks so much David!!!! Thanks for sharing…could I play these clips on my show?
Thanks again for the support and for spreading the word about the podcast.
I discovered this podcast on Pocketcasts Android app after browsing for something to help me sleep. I’m in the UK and am doing my level best to encourage everyone I know to give your podcast a shot. I usually fall asleep 10 mins or so into each show but to fall asleep laughing is beyond sublime.
Your talent is priceless and I can’t thank you enough for making bedtime a joy.
Thanks Joe!!!! “Keep up the good work” spreading the word…oh wait that was the catch phrase for last month…I have not come up with this months’ yet but whatever it is keep up the good work.
Thanks for taking the time to reach out and let me know, and for all the support.
I love this podcast soooo much! I can finally sleep!
I love this podcast. It is a life saver and I tell all my friends and family to listen to it. It is my favorite way to fall asleep. Thank you for creating this podcast <3 I could never do it because it seems like such a commitment. If you could shout me out on your next episode i would go crazy
Thought you might enjoy this article about religion on Game of Thrones: http://www.vulture.com/2015/04/what-you-need-to-know-about-religion-on-got.html?mid=slatefb
Discovered this podcast last month when googling “podcast to fall asleep to” (stroke of genius on my part, I like to think).
I didn’t expect an actual podcast to be made for that purpose. I just thought some internet fellows might have pointed out some podcasts which served a certainly important primary purpose but also helped people fall asleep, whether they wanted to or not.
This podcast is genius. Exactly what I needed. Just someone speaking, telling me random things, a story. Not too interesting that I would stay awake for fear of missing the ending, not too dull to bore me to death and let my mind wander back to anxiety inducing thoughts.
And you’re funny. What more could I ask?
Your podcast almost never fails to put me to sleep (it failed only twice I think, when the insomnia was too too bad and I couldn’t even focus on what you were saying and kept going back to my negative obsessive thinking).
Thank you a thousand times for this. Thank you for taking the time to record, edit, and upload the podcast and help us go to sleep.
Scooter,
My anxiety had peaked last night and I needed to get to bed, thank marduk I stumbled upon your podcast. I was expecting to have to sit through some droll asshole (their intent is good) tell me I am a wonderful person and count down towards my slumber. BUT I found something that works and has a sense of humor. You sir are an artist secondly, and a human that wants to help first. Thank you.
Dearest Scooter,
I must say this is a mystery to me. I feel like you’ve tapped into something greater than the sum of it’s parts. Your method puts me to sleep like a charm, and I can’t understand why – and guess it really doesn’t matter. Keep it up. Amazing work. I have no clue how you discovered this other than there is no explanation. BTW… where is the donation button? Many thanks and congrats on the wonderful work!
Noel
Aloha ! Best sleep aid ever! You are helping a lot of people out there around the world including me! Mahalo from hawaii!
My husband has a job with crazy hours and often has to change his sleep schedule from days to nighys or vice versa with very little notice. I’ve been using the podcast to help me get to sleep in spite of my anxiety issues, so I thought I’d have him give it a try next time he had to change shifts. Literally nothing would work for him but after only a half hour he was snoring away. Thank you so much you have no idea how much this has helped! Keep up the great work!
My dearestscooter-
Thank you for this amazing podcast. After years of cognitive therapy and breathing exercises, your app has finally triggered the off button in my brain. As soon as I hear your intro I am immediately calmed. I am able to quiet the super highway in my head and focus on your stories and then…. I’m out. I don’t think I’ve actually made it through a full episode. Thank you for allowing me to sleep more than 2-3 hours a night. You’re the best!!!
Great podcast! With everything else I’ve tried, I either hate what I’m listening to, or I’m too interested to fall asleep. Your podcast is so pleasant, and yet doesn’t keep me up at night.
Just to counter that other guy’s feedback, please keep the intro! The little tune in the beginning and your speech about trouble with this and that and what the podcast is about has become my cue to wind down fast. I’m usually asleep by the end of the intro or near the beginning of the main podcast.
Caleb,
Glad the podcast is getting to the pavlovian level with you. This means you are a candidate for our mind control program. By candidate I mean the process has already started and “may” be irreversible. But that’s just stuff doctors and lawyers say.
Anyway nothing to lose sleep over..for now….one day much like another famous Caleb you will rise to become one of my “Children of the Corn” without the corn of course and with adults.
For now I’m glad to see you getting a good nights sleep. Check out this bonus show too if you want some extra training http://traffic.libsyn.com/sleepwithmepodcast/SWMPBonus03.mp3
Sleep Well,
Drew/Scooter
Hey!
I’m really enjoying the podcasts they really help me out :). I got hooked after listening to an episode “Why make a podcast that bores people to sleep” and I’ve been enjoying the stories and the game of thrones stories/reviews ever since! I heard about the meet up but unfortunely I can’t go as I live in the UK but I hope you get a few sleeping sheep to show up.
I reccomended the podcast to some of my friends. I really hope you get some media attention soon or something or get more loyal subscribers like you have now, you can go a long way :)!
And keep doing what ya doing your helping alot of people out.
Sincerely Andy !
Edit – spelling mistakes ~ I was sleepy at the time 😀
Don’t worry I can’t spell or say or speak well even when fully awake.
Thanks for the support Andy, hopefully one day I will be in the UK to say good day. That rhymes.
Take care and sleep well,
Drew/Scooter
here’s a strange older bonus show http://traffic.libsyn.com/sleepwithmepodcast/SWMPBonus03.mp3
Thank you for creating this wonderful, quirky podcast than never fails to put me to sleep, sometimes a couple of times per night.
Please put up a link to Amazon on your webite so we can support your podcast easier.
Thank you for your support. Happy to hear we can get you back to sleep multiple times!!!! I’ll work on remembering to put the amazon link in the show notes. I think I put it on the top of the homepage.
Sleep well and give this bonus a listen if you have not heard it yet…http://traffic.libsyn.com/sleepwithmepodcast/SWMPBonus03.mp3 someone recently said I sound like a drunk McConaughey, which is a compliment indeed.
Dearest Scooter

Thanks Ashton! Did you have a favorite SuperDuller?

Thanks you for the support and saying hello!
Drew/Scooter
Dearest Scooter
Just listened to the episode where you read The Raven. I would like to lobby for more Scooter poetry readings. It was very relaxing and you really made me pay attention to the words.
Congratulations on all the great press you’ve been getting recently. Well deserved! (And also fun to hear more about you (Drew) and the behind the scenes stuff.)
Cheers!
LAB
Thanks LAB! I’m on it….I have one picked out for a week from this Sunday!
Did you listen to that interview on “For the Love of Pod(casts)? Let me know what you thought.
This podcast could not have come at a better time. Recently, I lost my job & have been having great anxiety falling asleep. I am able to fall asleep anxiety free and it has also changed how I feel during the day because I start with good sleep. Additionally, I am new mom & sometimes I have to get up in the middle of the night with the baby and then have a hard time falling back to sleep. Thank you for bringing some peace to my life. 🙂
Annie,
You are totally welcome. Thanks for listening and the support! If my podcast can help you get some sleep to let you be a more rested parent or just relieve the worry from your job search for a while…use this bonus if you run out of stuff to listen too http://traffic.libsyn.com/sleepwithmepodcast/SWMPBonus03.mp3
Sleep Well,
Drew and Scooter
Thank you, no one knows the importance of this who hasn’t struggled with not being able to sleep. All the alpha delta music.. nothing worked. But this… it’s perfect, I love it. Thank you for coming up with this!
Mitali,
As always much thanks and much love!
Better than a sleeping pill.
Totally works.
Wish I could donate some money!
Couldn’t post this message on the podcasts for some reason.
Gwen thanks for taking the time to post! So happy to hear it is working for you better than pills.
Make sure to check out this bonus http://traffic.libsyn.com/sleepwithmepodcast/SWMPBonus03.mp3
At some point we might have a donation page or something but for now just keep spreading the word!
Thanks for the support and sleep well,
Drew/Scooter
Your podcast is amazing. If I ever struggle with falling asleep, I just brew some herbal tea and listen to you for a bit. I realized in my bedtime brain wanderings that I probably would never leave you a comment, since I always just listen to you right before bed and never want to use my phone at the time. But I remembered, and I’d like to thank you for your work!
Nate,
Thanks so much. I just got into herbal tea in an attempt to make the podcast sound better with less “mouth noises”. What tea did you like to drink at bedtime?
Here’s a bonus that has a different guided meditation http://traffic.libsyn.com/sleepwithmepodcast/SWMPBonus03.mp3
Sleep Well!
Drew/Scooter
I’m not ashamed to admit that I’m obsessed with this podcast, and so curious about how you got into it. Is this related to your day job? Inquiring minds want to know!!
Thanks Julie!
Make sure to check out these two episodes for some “history” behind the podcast.
http://www.sleepwithmepodcast.com/158/
http://www.sleepwithmepodcast.com/101/
Not related to my day job though I do dream of a full time career in dullness.
I had been thinking about doing the podcast for years but kept putting it off as one of my silly pointless ideas, better suited for private moments and children’s parties. Then one day another creative endeavor imploded and I had some open time and decided to give it a shot.
And that has made all the difference.
Dearest Scooter,
While I do sometimes have trouble falling and/or staying asleep, the #1 problem is making myself go to bed. This is unfortunate because I really like to wake up early. I am in my early 40s but might as well be 4 when it comes to needing my mom or else Samuel L. Jackson to tell me to “Go the F*** to Sleep.” When I was little I worshiped Mr. Rogers and still mourn his untimely death – but I feel that in You, Dearest Scooter, I have found a new Neighbor – your stories are like what would have happened to Mr. Rogers if he’d lived long enough to acquire age-related dementia – I actually LOOK FORWARD to getting in bed so I can take the Trolley to the Land of (I often don’t make it through your equivalent of the sweater-zipping/shoe changing ritual and into the actual story). Thanks for everything you do for all us grownup children of Dearest Scooter’s Interweb Neighborhood.
XOXO
Hi Neighbor!
I’ll have to keep all that in mind for a future show idea. Glad to hear I’m helping you get to bed in time. I sometimes suffer from the same problem and then all the anxiety and guilt and tiredness that go along with dilly-dallying before bedtime.
I never thought of it but I too need to go through a process like “Mister Rodgers” and take off my outside world clothes and put on my “time with the friendly neighbor clothes”. For me it is singing Christmas carols or other earworm type songs while sucking on a cough drop after eating some slices of green apples. Then I make a few annoyed sounding sighs and I let myself fall into the transverse where the podcast unfolds.
Thanks so much for taking the time to make me laugh and remember Mister Rogers. (I think a few movies about him are in production).

Sleep Well,
Drew/Scooter
Hi from the UK !!
I started listening in december after a seriously bad bout of sleeplessness. Its definatly working !
One thing crossed my mind, is to whether it would be possible to stream your podcasts on rotation on an internet radio station…the practical process of switching on my phone in the midlle of the night to find an episode can be a minor pain.
Maybe I just need to download a few shows onto a spare ipod
anyway, thanks again and keep up the good work.
Thank you so much! Glad it is helping.
Putting a 24/7 stream up on something like shoutcast is on my to do list for sure. Just have not had the time to get that done.
BUT
I just whipped together this youtube playlist as a temp solution. Some phones can play youtube with the screen off and some cannot and you will have to turn your brightness down and flip your phone over. Let me know if it works and I can make a couple more playlists.
Mr. Fish, (I just like the way that sounds both offical and silly!)
Also here’s a old bonus episode too http://traffic.libsyn.com/sleepwithmepodcast/SWMPBonus03.mp3
Sleep Well,
Drew/Scooter
Just started sleeping with you! Have I had better, you ask? Only time will tell…
But seriously, I am amazed at how well this works.
I have been hacking my sleep for the last 3 years. Of all the tricks/techniques I’ve put in place, Sleep With Me Podcast is, by far, the most effective. And I don’t have to do a damn thing!
I can’t thank you enough for providing the world with such an amazing service.
You’re like the friend who sleeps over and just won’t shut up. As long as he doesn’t ask me questions, I don’t mind listening. I guess the difference is you don’t get mad if I fall asleep during your boring stories. ;D
Well, it won’t be long now… I just got In bed and started playing the podca………
ZzzzzzzZZZzzzzZZzthankyousleepwithmepodcastZZzzzzZZZzzz……
David,
Glad you found the show. What other sleep hacks have you tried? What has worked well? What was a total waste of time?
I’m proud to be that friend you don’t really listen to!
Check out this bonus too http://traffic.libsyn.com/sleepwithmepodcast/SWMPBonus03.mp3
Sleep Well,
Drew/Scooter
I appreciate you!
The bonus clip you sent was pretty fun.
What other sleep hacks have I tried? The one that always proves to be pretty effective is the reduction/removal of bright white or blue light in the evening.
For instance, right now I am typing this message on my smart phone while laying in bed. The screen is dim but it is still emitting blue light. My eyes relay the signals to my brain who decides that it must be daytime.
There are a few really great apps for iPhone and Android that reduce the amount of blue light your phone emits in the evenings.
There are apps for just about every platform now. Windows, Mac, Android, iPhone… Maybe more.
Search your app store for “blue light filter app”.
Happy dreaming!
As a single mother of two teenagers and a four year old, my stress level is overwhelming. In the last year I have been prescribed an Rx to calm me enough to shut my mind down and sleep. Your podcasts work better than my rx does. In fact I prefer to listen to you and do not need anything else. Your freaking amazing. I look forward to hearing you at night. Your simply genius! Thank you thank you!
Thanks so much. Hearing that I am helping you get some rest makes doing the podcast feel truly rewarding. I can’t imagine the stress a double teenager combo crossed with a four year old can cause on your sleep! So you are totally welcome. Thanks so much for listening and check out this bonus show in case you need it http://traffic.libsyn.com/sleepwithmepodcast/SWMPBonus03.mp3
Sleep Well,
Drew/Scooter
Dear Dearest Scooter,
You are f-ing crazy… in a good way.
I’ve started using the timer function on my podcast app so I don’t sleep all the way through your podcasts – I really do want to hear what you have to say! The rabbit holes you go down (especially for the Game of Drones episodes) are super interesting!
I kind of wish we could hang out in person – I promise I wouldn’t fall asleep if we had a conversation in real life!
Lab,
Thanks! Sometimes I wonder why things come out of my mind and then mouth that are so odd and even I can’t understand it. I used to feel like there was something off or wrong with me but now that I have found my calling as a “pro-am borer” I no long ask why.
That’s great you enjoy the rabbit holes, they are what make watching things like GoT so much fun, wonder why does this or that have to do with those.
Thanks for taking the time to show your support, as far as meeting up goes where are you from? I hope one day I can plan some meet ups or live podcasts or something like that in some places so let me know for sure.
Sleep Well and check out this bonus too http://traffic.libsyn.com/sleepwithmepodcast/SWMPBonus03.mp3
Drew/Scooter
A Sleep With Me live event could be awesome/hilarious. You could do a live show where your ticket-buying, auditorium-seated audience nods off to sleep one by one!
I am in Southern California… I have a feeling that your listeners are from all over the US/world!
I am curious if you do any “professional” story writing? Or even audio book voice work. You’ve got mad skills, as the kids say (or used to say? I don’t know, I’m old in internet years).
Seriously, Jeff Bridges has nothing on you.
It’s funny – I’m a classic introvert who just wants everyone to BE QUIET when I need to rest/wind down. But when I’m going to sleep, there’s nothing like someone telling me a story.
My go-to used to be BBC documentaries, but you’re it now!
Cheers!
Lab
Thanks Lab.
A live show is something I have been brainstorming for sure. I would not be dull for sure, but could the audience still be put to sleep? Would I then rob them?
I have been working hard on writing/storytelling for about 10 years but have not turned it into a paying career yet. Thanks for the confidence boost. I feel like I have finally put some of my excuses to “bed” about not putting enough effort in so I feel like I am finally starting to put lots of time and work into “the craft”.
Hopefully I can get a meetup together in So-cal by the end of 2015. I will keep you up to date for sure.
Thanks for the ongoing support!
P.S. Thanks for the bonus!
Thank you a lot for doing what you do, at first I wasn’t sure about the podcast but I ended up loving it, sometimes you make me laugh in the middle of the night but you really help me relax.
Greeting from Argentina.
“Don’t laugh at me Argentina” (in Madonna’s voice)
Andres,
Just kidding! They say laughter is the best medicine, and when it is combined with some dullness and lulling it can help induce sleep. At least that’s what I’m trying to do.
Glad to hear you stuck with the podcast. I would love to hear more about your initial doubts and first thoughts before you started to enjoy it. It is always helpful to hear about that kind of stuff so I can better help explain this odd little podcast.
Thank you so much for taking the time to say hello from so far away. It is humbling and amazing to know you are listening from so far away.
Take care and check out this extra show if you have not heard it yet http://traffic.libsyn.com/sleepwithmepodcast/SWMPBonus03.mp3
Drew/Scooter
Well I was expecting the show to be about ASMR. Then you started talking and I just wasn’t sure about it.
I think the best you can do is to explain what you are doing, like you already do. The concept of distracting my mind was what kept me hooked.
Also the feeling that I can just hear you talk like a friend really takes me forget about life, I’m not saying I don’t want to take care about my life but forgetting everything for some time really helps me to take things easy and take ME out of the equation, I don’t know how to explain it, sort of like meditation.
I hope the feedback helps, good luck!
WOW Thanks! That is a big help and I’m really glad you are getting a sense of a distracting friend just willing to talk you to sleep, as that is one of the things I am striving for.
Thanks for taking the time to let me know.
Dearest Scooter –
Just started listening and I’m completely caught up. I absolutely LOVE the program unfortunately I do find myself laughing against my will!
You are doing great, please continue!
Elizabeth,
Holy crap! Did you catch up on all the episodes?
Sorry to make you laugh but it is mostly you laughing at me instead of laughing with me so that makes it okay. Sleep inducing schaudefreude is perfectly acceptable.
Here’s a bonus show if you have not caught it yet http://traffic.libsyn.com/sleepwithmepodcast/SWMPBonus03.mp3
Sleep well and thanks for taking the time to comment,
Drew/Scooter
Scooter, I was becoming hopeless about my sleep until I found this podcast listed on Mandatory.com. Your sense of humor and realistic approach to sleep is very comforting. I like that you acknowledge your own difficulties with sleep and that it’s not always easy and this podcast might not work. Part of the problem for me is putting so much pressure on myself to fall asleep, but you help take that pressure off. I also love your Game of Thrones episodes. I’m a huge fan of the books and show and enjoy reminiscing about old episodes with you. Your comment on Margery’s plunging neckline cracked me up. Thanks for adding some humor to my tossing and turning.
Rockie,
It makes me feel so proud to help take the pressure off at bedtime! Did you hear they are showing the last two episodes of last season of Game of Thrones in IMAX this week with an extended trailer? Try and check it out. I gotta go reminisce about Margery’s neckline now that you reminded my about it. Keep listening and thanks for the support. Keep in touch and Sleep Well,
Drew/Scooter
P.S. Here is an older guided meditation style bonus http://traffic.libsyn.com/sleepwithmepodcast/SWMPBonus03.mp3
Dear Scooter,
I listen to you every night. I can’t imagine bedtime without you. Last night I randomly picked one I haven’t heard before and I learned something about you and your journey with the cast – very cool. Glad you are at the this place and time in your life. CONGRATS! AND THANKS
Connie,
Thanks for the support. Glad to be there for your journey to sleep and thank you for taking the time to show your support for mine! Here’s an extra show if you need it http://traffic.libsyn.com/sleepwithmepodcast/SWMPBonus03.mp3
Drew/Scooter
Dearest Scooter,
Thank you for putting me to sleep. I had tried everything, but nothing seemed to work. Your voice is very relaxing after a long day and I am so happy to have found this podcast So cheers to you!
However, in your My life with a perm episode, you mentioned Aussies enjoying summer in our underwear. That got my full attention because I live in Australia. We are having a nice warm summer with the occasional storm. The most common way to relax over the summer is with a beer and in your dacks. Thats what we sometimes call our underwear.
I enjoy your stories about Ser Pounce, It makes up for the fact that I can’t keep a cat.
Keep up the great work!
Erin
Awesome, DACKS it is!
Sounds like the weather is good down there, I’m lucky enough to live in CA where we have a mild winter.
I’ll be looking forward to trying to explain to Ser Pounce why he needs to start wearing cat dacks.
Sleep Well and here’s a bonus show too http://traffic.libsyn.com/sleepwithmepodcast/SWMPBonus03.mp3
Drew/Scooter
I have never slept better in my life. Thank you so much! Warm wishes to Ser Pounce.
Jessica,
Pounce said something that sounded like “rustletoes” not sure if it was a thank you or not so I say thanks for both of us. I’m always amazed and gratified to hear the podcast is working to help someone sleep. Thanks for taking the time to comment and let me know.
Make sure to enjoy this bonus show

and many rustletoes to you and yours!
I absolutely love your stories. I always have to listen again in the morning while getting ready for work so I can hear the endings. I have been re-listening to Bernie the Butterfly once a week.
You have such a great imagination.
Amy,
Thanks! and thanks for listening to the endings too. I can’t wait to tell Bernie that he has a fan. I’m sure he will say something but mean something else.
Glad to hear my imagination is being enjoyed.
Check out this bonus if you haven’t listened yet

The podcast is damn amazing. I sometimes don’t want to fall asleep because I want to know what comes next. Thanks for the laughs and the zzz’s. The only thing is… I’m dying to know what the narrator looks like!!
Thanks! Glad to keep you in both sleep and laughter. Some info about what my haircut is like will be coming on a show soon. So for now just imagine me tap, tap, tapping.
thank you, thank you, thank you! I have finally found something that works! you are a God send!
Thanks for all those thank yous, you are welcome for sure. So touched to hear the podcast is working for you, that is what makes all the work worth it!

Sorry to hear about the technical difficulties. I have to admit the phone recording qualities didn’t sound bad at all!
Thanks for helping me sleep each night!

I know! I was totally surprised too. This makes it a whole new ballgame of possible “man on the street” style boredom in 2015.
Dearest Scooter,
Thanks so much for this podcast! It’s helped me quite a bit; I’ve already recommended it to Eileen and Mary and won’t hesitate to recommend it to others. Your sweet voice soothes me, and once I stop laughing, I generally nod off rather quickly. Thanks, again.
Jeanie
P.S. Ray’s funny, but I really prefer you.
Wow! Ray is gonna have to pop this big head I’m getting, having someone who perfers me. He can handle it, he’s much more adjusted than I am.
Thanks for taking the time to spead the word to others! Glad to hear that I out you in a cheery mood before you nod off.

Hey there! No more sleep aids! As a lifelong insomniac I and my liver thank you. I really think that you’ve hit on something here. Wondering if your approach may merit some serious scientific study/review since it’s so damned effective. Anybody with a with a medical/psychology thesis due may want to think about taking a look at why this works so well. Imagine a world where doctors tell insomnia patients to try Scooter first before breaking out the prescription pad.
Thanks Phil! I’m so glad to hear you were able to cut out the meds and still get some rest! Right now a team a swedish brain scientists are studing me but not for sleep, they described it to me as a research on “fuctioning with duillsonary belief systems that distract from a detatchment from reality”. Hopefully their study can help someone someday.
Thanks so much for the support I’m so proud to be part of your fight against lifelong insomnia. Check out these bonus shows

Your podcast really does the trick! I have ADHD and have had difficulty falling asleep my entire life. I learned about your podcast and skeptically gave it a try. I now fall asleep every single night when I’m listening to it. I can’t thank you enough for the brilliance of it. I am finally getting enough sleep!
Thanks! Really interested to hear about your skepticism coming to the podcast. What did you expect to hear? How did you find out about us? What were you thinking it would be like?
So happy to hear it is working for you. Make sure to check out this bonus http://traffic.libsyn.com/sleepwithmepodcast/SWMPBonus03.mp3
I love this podcast. I work night shift and have difficulty sleeping during the day. Sleep With Me has helped me drift off many mornings. I am truly grateful for the help!
Glad to hear and thank you! Here is a strange bonus episode http://traffic.libsyn.com/sleepwithmepodcast/SWMPBonus03.mp3.
Do you ever use an eyemask to help block out the light? If so which one and what are your thoughts?
Thanks!
Thanks!!
I don’t use an eye mask, I don’t like things on my face. But I have managed to block most light out with blackout curtains and some well placed foam boards over my bedroom windows. The boards are held in place by Velcro for easy removal if I want to let some light in.
Very crafty!
The long dark nights have set in here in Finland. After a hot sauna, a dip in the icy lake, and as the fire embers are fading, it’s time to bed down and listen to some “sleepwithmepodcast”.
Still listening with a smile on my face to this addictive podcast.
I still have a smile when I think of Haggalina out there cold and selling her matches in the long dark night. Stay warm and rested and thanks for the support. Here’s a bonus too http://traffic.libsyn.com/sleepwithmepodcast/SWMPBonus03.mp3
Dear scooter,
I’ve been falling asleep to your podcast now for months and truly feel that you are here with me during my sleepless nights and have become a close companion, but not in a creepy weird way..lol. Just to add, I fall asleep every time; so greatly appreciative! I just finished listening to your personal story and am so impressed with your honesty and ability to be so genuine. I think every human being has felt exactly as you have and do. It’s wonderful for you to share your story so honestly and to give insight into what a lot of people, including me want to run from and be stifled by, fear and anxiety. By doing this, I’m sure you have drawn most of us closer to you and to each other. You are building a community and it’s a wonderful thing! A huge congratulations to you Drew for having the strength to face your fears, share them with all of us and create such a unique and amazing podcast! I’m holding a wine glass of juice up to you!!!
Stephanie from Regina
Cheers to you and all your ongoing support. I hope we can start to roll this community into an active helpful thing in the next year!
And cheers to not making easy…so easy and tempting rhyming jokes!
I ran across your podcast while googling sleep solutions and have listened three times so far. You are weirdly entertaining, funny, cool, and boring all at the same time– quite an accomplishment! I have yet to hear the end of a story. Thank you, I’m hooked.
Thank you for taking the time to comment! I hope the podcast keeps helping you out and hitting you on all those levels. Make sure to check out this bonus http://traffic.libsyn.com/sleepwithmepodcast/SWMPBonus03.mp3 it is kind of a slow strange guided meditation

Awesome work, I totally love your podcast! Keep up the good work!

Why are you obsessed with the Chukchi? Asia and North America are impossible to defend and impractical to invade. Have you ever won a game of risk?
Think you could work out the details of this Truffle Shuffle number? Maybe lay down the whole song and dance?
Normally I like to try and capture it and use it and Greenland to defend North America, then creep into South American and the Africa and lock all those down and build up armies and then slowly spread from there…that said I have only played against the limited computer AI so my game is WEAK. Against a human I might be in trouble.
I will work on the truffle shuffle thing…should I combine his confession scene with it…probably….I’ll add some flashback type stuff too.
Thanks for commenting! Check out this bonus too http://t.co/Arh7A11vXg
Oh yeah, the blender goes hand and hand with the Truffle Shuffle. And gives a good reason to have tomatoes or assorted produce related dancers doing high kicks.
Flashbacks in general would be fantastic. What do the goonies do on a normal weekend? I know Mouth sometimes helps his other friends kill vampires, but only when he is sent to stay with his dad in the summer. But between all the issues that come with asthma, being overweight, and having over protective Asian parents, I’m sure the average day in life of a goonie is boring as hell.
Are we talking about some type of “Goonies” sit-com? “The Goondocks”?
I love this podcast. Superdull is amazingly interesting and sleep inducing! (It’s essentially how I imagine real life super heros would behave). Anyway, why is your podcast no longer updating on iTunes?? I’ve missed it this past month and didn’t realize you were still pumping them out!
Thank you! iTunes has been having bugs on the podcast end for the past month, they say they are working on it. That said everything is all up to date on my itunes. Do you use it on a computer or a phone? Are you using the podcast app? Hope I can help making sure you get the latest episodes!

Dearest scooter
You are a life saver! I stumbled across your podcast late one night and it has put me to sleep every night since. You are hilarious! It was the titles of you’re episodes that drew me in.. Poop jewels?! How do you pass that up? Lol. While listening I honestly didn’t think it would make me fall asleep because the stories and you are so funny, but everytime I’m out like a light. Thanks greatly for all the work you must put into this, I’m sure you are helping a tremendous amount of people who have suffered through many sleepless nights. Take care
Thanks so much for the kind comments. I’m glad you caught “Poop Jewels” that was one of my favorite story turns that surprised even me and created an odd title.
I am very happy that the podcast helps you sleep and makes you laugh, those the goals I always strive for, set so high for me by Doctor Demento and Weird Al.
Be sure to check out this bonus http://traffic.libsyn.com/sleepwithmepodcast/SWMPBonus03.mp3 keep listening and sleep well!
Third time I’ve posted a comment but just can’t say enough about this podcast. Not only has it helped me sleep every night that I listen, which is almost every weeknight, but I’m hooked-it’s funny, weird, and I feel like it’s my very own discovery. I’m constantly telling my co-workers about it and some are tuning in. Still awesome!
Thanks!!!!
Tried to leave you a wonderful review on iTunes but it wouldn’t process on my phone so I thought I’d post it here and maybe you could find a way to get it on there, or at least you would know how greatful I am for your podcast. Thanks again,
Aran
“I stumbled across this podcast while looking for an ASMR relaxation podcast. I’m so happy and thankful that I found this first. Each episode eases you into a relaxed state of mind with the hosts calming voice and positive demeanor. The stories instantly hook your attention but, as the show progresses, the stories slowly coax you into a very deep state of relaxation. I have never stayed awake for a full episode, and that’s the point! I can’t express how thankful I am to have found something so simple and enjoyable that allows me refreshingly deep sleep without having to take my sleeping pills. If you have trouble sleeping occasionally or you’re a full blows insomniac, give it a listen. You’ll be pleasantly surprised as to how great it works. I’d also like to thank our Dearest Scooter for giving his time and energy to help people like me that need better ways to deal with our insomnia. Much love and good vibes being sent your way.”
Thanks for the podcast! More “Get Bezos” please!!! I listen every night.
Thanks for listening. Glad you are enjoying it. I just put up the latest episode a bit early in your honor! “Get Besos” will be there for you every Tuesday, Thursday and Sunday night until Besos gets gotten.
Good Evening, Sir 🙂 sorry, I couldn’t tell you which podcast it was but.. one of them.. (first time i listened) any way, it finally put me to sleep after being awake about 34 hours just in time for a 12 hour shift, I got 8 hours of sleep, I function well without sleep I think its funny how ppl cant tell, i appear to have energy cause im acting , and don’t want to show unprofessional behavior because i work in a professional serious setting with a lot on the line at times.. So, god bless you, I understand you called yourself weird but thank god your weird then.. Im sure most people can relate to the feeling (I could). i just want to say thanks.. I am in the military active duty air force, kind of dealing with being far away even though my family and I have always been distant.. kind of hard to explain how its stressful but i have a boyfriend that can deploy (TDY) whenever and responsibility’s expectations and skills which i am still mastering like everyone else but i feel weird cause i cant sleep and i get stressed, usually having trouble sleeping.. but iv been using this for 3 days in a row and it helps more then anything.. iv never heard the end of one yet, so here’s some encouragement.. Understand it is a huge Relief, I don’t know you but you’ve helped me, your doing a good thing here
God bless you for your service. So glad you found SWM. Me too!
Thanks!
I want to thank this person who wrote to you Scoots, for his or her service to us and our country, and I want to thank Scoots–for helping this person and many others, including me! I can relate to this person’s sleep anxiety: it reminds me of when I was training for, and then became an EMT. Even though volunteer, we have the same requirements and certifications, the same responsibility and pressure was great. And whether I was on night call or not I found I couldn’t sleep and wound up spinning past 24 hours without it. Not to mention, that I could not TALK about it with people I worked with. What a great service both the writer, and Scoots
are doing for us, and you see: for OUR COUNTRY!
Thanks! I’m so happy to help you so you can help other. It is an honor.
Just wanted to let you know that even the Aussies love your podcast. I found you by chance and have shared with several friends. I have no clue what Besos and Meta whatever is, but it matters not. I have made a one off donation via paypal rather than a monthly payment as the international currency fees are too high to do it every month. Love your work – fabulously dull.
I just wanted to thank you for providing exactly what the world needs. I’ve listened to many podcasts and audiobooks but I was looking for this! I absolutely love you for thinking of this idea and actually executing it. I fall asleep in no time, your voice is calm and you have an amazing talent for useless blabbering. The only thing that’s too bad is I’ve never heard what a podcast is about because I’m asleep before the main part starts.
Thanks so much! How did you discover the podcast?
Thank you for making this podcast. I am struggling with major depression. Even though I know we don’t know each other, it feels like you care about me. Your podcasts have dine more for me than you could ever know.
So happy to be of service!
Don’t know how to leave a comment so ill just reply. Hi, listener from Norway here. I usually take really really long to fall asleep and I tried many ways that have been unsuccessful. Honestly I have no idea what any if your stories are about becaue I doze off way before they start. This is a good thing! I think. I did wake up once to a episode of Nuns in Space and I was very confused, but it was rather funny. Thank you for helping me fall asleep! I promise to try to listen to you during the day when I’m awake to find out what on earth you tell my brain as I sleep.
Aloha! Tried this once and it works! I’ll try it again! All the way from hawaii mahalo!
Scoots,
I just found Agathas’s younger first cousin! She lives in Ireland and is full of herself as well as life in general just like your beloved Agatha!
Check out this YouTube video when you need to relax and be amused at the same time. 😊 BTW: Your humor is wonderful but I found myself awake chuckeling / belly laughing at things you said in one of your last podcast. Something about not knowing what you will be charged until after the fact and etc. Ha! It was almost too good to keep me sleeping. HA!

Thanks Bill!!!
Scooter, this podcast is so wonderful and brings such a comfort for sleeping. I’ve noticed, may it was always there, but the music and songs…is there a way to get the podcast without that?? Everything else is what I’ve been looking for! Thank you so much!
Thanks! We have almost always had theme music and we have had the lullajingles for about 350 episodes. Sleep to Strange does not have music, that is another feed. We put those kind of story only episodes out on our patreon now. Thanks!
Dear Scoots,
Listen every night. Thank you so much for what you do. It took me a while to enjoy Slee with Me – maybe 6 or 7 listens. Now you are a daily staple.
Question: … lollng, soothing, creekadolsa(?!?!)
What the heck is the word after soothing??? I have searched and searched but cannot figure it out!!! Thanks again.
Thanks so much. It is “creeky dulcet tones” kind of describes my voice. Thank you for listening!
